Gabby Windey Shares How Her Family Responded to Her Relationship with a Woman

Last week, former Bachelorette Gabby Windey hard launched her new relationship with girlfriend Robby Hoffman.
After sharing some cute couples pics, Gabby took to her Instagram Stories and said, “Hi, you guys. I have lots to say, honestly, and it’s hard to get it out all right now. I know everyone has been really curious about who I’m dating and thank you. You know I love to stir the pot and tease, but I did want to wait until I was ready because it is a larger conversation because I’m dating a girl!”
Then, the Bachelor Nation star went on “The View,” where she had an honest conversation about her coming out journey.
The co-hosts asked Gabby how her family reacted when she told them about her new girlfriend.
Gabby said, “At first when my girlfriend and I first started dating, I waited to see where it went and then it was going very well. I was like, I could see the future kind of for once and it just felt so right. So I was like, I just have to tell my family. I can’t wait for the perfect time; there’s never a good time. They don’t live in the same state as me, so I FaceTimed them and both of their jaws dropped to the floor, but they were like, we just want you to be happy.”
She went on, adding, “Yeah, that meant a lot. They have really been supportive. I do kind of come from a conservative family in a very heteronormative world. I was obviously on dating shows dating men. I was a Broncos cheerleader for five years, so my whole world was kind of male-gazey. I feel like it’s not something that my parents ever imagined for me. I think it’s going to take some time, like, for the rest of the world and, like, for me. It took me a while to stop questioning and just start trusting. Now I’m fully trusted and I’m here.”
Gabby and Robby have been continuing to share cute photos together since going public with their relationship.
We can’t get enough of these two and we’re just so happy to see Gabby so happy and in love!
