Charity Reveals Whether She Would’ve Kept Xavier If He Told Her About His Dating History Sooner
Keeping it real.
Bachelor Nation fans are watching Charity Lawson look for her forever person on Season 20 of “The Bachelorette.”
On last week’s episode, she reunited with Xavier for the first time since their heartbreaking split in Fiji.
The two were going strong before Fantasy Suite week, when a conversation about Xavier’s past infidelity led to the end of their relationship.
Now, Charity is stopping by the “Bachelor Happy Hour” podcast, where she’s opening up to co-hosts Joe Amabile and Serena Pitt about her breakup with Xavier.
The co-hosts asked Charity whether she would’ve sent Xavier home sooner if they had that conversation about his dating history earlier on.
The Bachelorette got candid, saying, “If he would have told me on our first one-on-one, I wouldn’t have kept him around. It’s plain and simple. I work with the information I get in those moments and in those conversations. That’s the tricky part of being in this position. I don’t feel like at all times I’m getting everything that I need. It’s up to me to ask these questions.”
Charity shared that she did ask Xavier about his past relationships, but the infidelity didn’t come up.
She said, “Without even knowing that was a part of his past, I did ask about past relationships and that never came up. I asked all the questions about his relationships, and he never thought that this is something I need to share with Charity. I understand that it’s a difficult conversation. I told him that it was a little selfish to withhold that from me up until that point. Someone else could’ve been in that position that I had a connection with. Whether or not that would be my forever person, it doesn’t matter. It was just he was now wasting my time and wasting a space.”
Charity noted that it wasn’t so much Xavier’s past but how he answered her questions that led to her sending him home.
She said, “It was really, why didn’t he share that? It was the questions that came up after the fact. Like, it was a mistake that was made in the past. I told him time and time again that I commend you for opening up about this, but it’s everything that came after. The follow-up questions that I asked him, he just continued to dig a deeper hole.”
