Charity Lawson & Dotun Olubeko Reveal Their First Conversation After Getting Engaged
Love is in the air!
Bachelor Nation fans saw Charity Lawson and Dotun Olubeko get engaged on the season finale of “The Bachelorette.”
Now, the happy couple is stopping by for an exclusive chat with co-hosts Joe Amabile and Serena Pitt on the “Bachelor Happy Hour” podcast.
Joe and Serena asked the newly engaged duo if they remember their first conversation after their proposal in Fiji and the cameras went away.
Charity started off by saying, “I’m thinking about post-proposal, we were in our feelings. We were having a moment. It was really hitting us, like, this actually just happened. He is seriously just such a sweetheart. I would just catch him in the corner and he would look up with this pure look of love. Sorry, I’m just putting you on blast.”
The former Bachelorette continued on, saying, “I always checked in and asked what he was thinking about. We would recap every single moment and share what we were feeling. It was such highly intensified moments, so we just kept recapping everything that led us to the proposal.”
Her fiancé chimed in and shared that it wasn’t so much a conversation but a feeling between the two of them.
Dotun said, “I don’t think there was a specific conversation to remember. It was more just a feeling and a lot of quietness. We were just embracing it and realizing we’re here and we made it. What a crazy love story. There was such an energy. It was relief, but it was powerful and intense. We were basking in it. We were embracing this part of the journey ending and the next part of the journey beginning. It was a lot of grateful feelings in the air.”
Joe also teased Dotun about calling their romance a “fairy tale” so many times during this season and Dotun said it was for good reason.
He said, “Every single time I was saying it, I said I know this sounds insane because I don’t even believe in fairy tales, but like that is what this is becoming and that’s what this is feeling like. That’s what my heart was saying. I maybe said it four times and you see it four times.”
Dotun went on, saying, “I was completely aware that that sounds woo-woo and I’m very logical. She is too, so for both of us, we were well aware it was a weird thing to say. It sounds like fake almost or that you’re trying to pretend, but we’re both aware that it sounds crazy, but that’s what it was. There is nothing wrong with it and our relationship was flawless from beginning to end and to even now, truly. So to set the record straight, when I hear it too, I cringe!”
We couldn’t be happier for Charity and Dotun on their engagement! We love their love so much.
