Sydney Hightower Warner Reveals Why She’s Taking a Break from Social Media After ‘Nasty Comments’
Speaking out.
Fans first met Bachelor Nation star Sydney Hightower Warner on Season 24 of “The Bachelor,” and while things didn’t work out with Peter Weber, Sydney has continued to share her life with fans on social media.
Shortly after her time on “The Bachelor,” Sydney met NFL star Fred Warner, and the two have been inseparable since.
Sydney and Fred got married last year, and now Sydney is taking to Instagram to address some negative comments she’s received from online trolls and how it’s impacted her mental health.
It started when Sydney was receiving hateful comments in response to filming herself watching her husband Fred’s football game at home.
Someone wrote, “She is such a freak, she like filmed this herself too.”
Sydney responded, “Usually I let the hate and nasty comments roll off my back, but I’ve been getting so much this week it finally got to me. Idk what is in the water this week with social media, but gosh. People are so unnecessary and it’s so much worse than people even realize.”
She went on, sharing, “Lately, I’ve been thinking about stopping social media. I don’t have to do this. I do this because I want to and I enjoy it! Filming, editing, being creative and showing parts of my life, and showing you guys cute products and outfits is fun for me. But weeks like this week make me just want to stop.”
Sydney also clapped back at someone who was calling her out for “pumping product” and doing social media ads.
She said, “I’m not sure if this is clear, but I’ve been a full-time content creator for five years now. This is my full-time job and how I make my income. I’m so blessed to be able to do this full-time. Before this. I worked two jobs. I was a full-time medical assistant, and on the side and the weekends I worked as a retail assistant for Sephora, Michael Kors, & countless boutiques. I also waited tables (which I loved) and was a hostess. You name it. I did it! Once my social media got going and continued to grow I realized how much I loved it and began to really try and learn the influencing world and how to be successful while still working my other jobs.”
Then once Sydney met Fred, she said a career in social media allowed her to have the flexibility to move across the country and be with him.
She said, “This is my full time income, and I wouldn’t have it any other way. Fred’s begged me to quit several times, but he knows how much I love it but unfortunately he gets to see the bad side, whenever people are hateful and ugly and judgemental. But he knows how much working drives me, and how I will never not work. Whether it be social media or me going back into the medical field, I will always work. That’s just how I am.”
Sydney assured her followers that she’s never just “pushing products” and only works with brands she truly believes in and has turned down offers from brands that don’t align for her.
At the end of her Stories, Sydney shared that she would be “taking a break from Instagram for a while to reset.”
We’re sending Sydney love and hoping her sharing serves as a reminder that there are real people behind the accounts you follow.
