Brayden Bowers & Aaron Schwartzman Rescued After Boat Sinks on Fishing Trip in San Diego
So glad they’re okay!
Bachelor Nation stars and upcoming “Bachelor in Paradise” cast members Brayden Bowers and Aaron Schwartzman were just a part of a boating incident that required them to be rescued off the coast of San Diego.
Local news network Fox 5 San Diego reported on the sinking boat, sharing that that “ship sank 15 to 20 miles off the coast of San Diego. Luckily for those on board, two people found them and were able to bring them back to shore.”
Aaron owned the boat that went down and took his friends out for a day of fishing before the boat sank and left them stranded in the water for 3 1/2 hours.
Aaron spoke to the outlet on Monday and shared what happened, saying, “It’s like being trapped and helpless because there’s no service. We weren’t able to send a distress signal at all, and the only thing you have out there is hope, hope that somebody finds you, hope that a helicopter flies over.”
Brayden also shared his experience on the boat, saying, “My buddy Gavin, he got his line stuck on the engine propeller, so Aaron just went to the back of the boat to lift the engine up and try and untangle it… All of the sudden, as soon as he stands on the swim deck… the boat literally just sunk.”
Thankfully, the group on the boat was made up of firefighters and former military members, so they knew how to respond in a dangerous situation like this one.
Brayden said, “We just tried to paddle to shore, so we linked arms and we kind of just started kicking.”
Eventually the boat sank and became fully submerged, so the group of five was left with little hope.
Then, a boat came along just in time with two local men, Chris and TJ, who spotted something in the water while they were also out fishing.
TJ told Fox 5, “For whatever reason, we came to look to see if it was holding fish and that’s when we saw the guys in the water.”
We’re so thankful Aaron, Brayden, and the rest of their group are okay. For more on the story, click here for the full breakdown from Fox 5.
