Hannah Godwin & Dylan Barbour Reveal What Went Wrong During Their Wedding in Paris
Not according to plan!
Hannah Godwin and Dylan Barbour famously found love and got engaged on Season 6 of “Bachelor in Paradise.”
Then last month, the fan-favorite couple finally tied the knot in a beautiful Paris wedding ceremony surrounded by family, friends, and fellow Bachelor Nation stars.
The couple said “I do” on Wednesday, August 23, at the Château de Villette in Condécourt, France, in front of close family and friends.
Now, the newlyweds are sitting down for a wedding Q&A on Hannah’s YouTube channel and spilling the tea about what went wrong during their wedding week.
Their welcome party was on Monday, August 21, and on the day their guests all arrived in Paris, they were told they might not be able to have their wedding at their venue.
Hannah said, “We got a call on Monday and we kept running into issues with payments and sending money over from the U.S. to Europe. Wiring is so different and there are bank holidays and things are just weird and don’t get approved, so we ran into almost not having the château. They said that if they didn’t get the money by noon that day, we couldn’t come. This was Monday and our wedding was on Wednesday. I was like, ‘Wait, what?’ Dylan wasn’t stressed, for some reason.”
Dylan chimed in, saying, “I wasn’t stressed. This is for my finance bros. So when you purchase euros, you have to transfer the currency trade and it takes 24 hours for it to sell or something like that. We bought them Friday and wired it Friday and they are obviously not going to go out over the weekend, so it went over on Monday. I was like, ‘It’s fine.’”
Hannah said that even though Dylan was calm, she was still concerned.
She said, “They were literally threatening that they would not let us check into the place and the wedding couldn’t happen. So I was freaking out and then randomly at 11:45 a.m. it went through. I was like, ‘Wow, we don’t have a venue right now. This is scary.’ We couldn’t call the U.S. about the money not being sent. I was trying, but all the offices were closed because of the time difference. The bank also said they didn’t see the transfer on their end, but it had been sent.”
And on their actual wedding day, the couple only ran into one major snafu.
Dylan shared, “Another thing was we spent a long time on our playlist. The music is paramount to having a good party. It’s everything. We’ve been to weddings where it’s not right and it’s crucial. My friend Bryce is big on playing good music and the entire month leading up, he was like, ‘The DJ better not mess up.’ It was a lot of pressure. We make a playlist. Hannah had classical songs to be played during dinner. We give the DJ the Spotify playlist a week or two weeks before and we said the slow songs are for dinner and then it goes into more upbeat party/pop music. It had a natural progression and was very strategic.”
He continued on, saying, “We do our first dance and go sit down. They start to serve dinner and the sun is setting and it’s vibey and classy and they are pouring wine. The first song he plays is ‘Get Low’ by Flo Rida. It was like ‘Shawty had them apple bottom jeans’ and we’re all sitting there eating. Nobody cared. We were really the only people that noticed it. We were like, ‘Maybe he just picked the wrong song.’ Then the next song was ‘Run It’ by Chris Brown and Hannah was like, ‘Where is all the Frank Sinatra?’”
Eventually the couple had to go chat with the DJ because he was choosing the end of the night songs for their romantic dinner.
They realized he had been randomizing the playlist and only spoke French, so Hannah’s maid of honor was able to chat with him and explain what the issue was.
Thankfully it all got sorted, and aside from a little drizzle of rain, the rest of the night went perfectly!
