Carly Waddell Recounts Going to College with Lady Gaga: ‘She Was Good at Everything’

Fans first met Bachelor Nation star Carly Waddell on Season 19 of “The Bachelor,” and she returned to our screens for Seasons 2 and 3 of “Bachelor in Paradise.”
Bachelor Nations knows that Carly is a very talented singer and has released music of her own, but before releasing her music and even before her time on Bachelor Nation shows, she attended NYU’s Tisch School of the Arts.
This week on fellow Bachelor Nation star Jason Tartick’s podcast, Carly opened up about her time at NYU and her experience with very famous classmate Lady Gaga.
Carly recalled that when she and all the other students would be eating lunch in the dance studio, Gaga would sit at the piano every day and play songs from the musical “Wicked” and sing at the top of her lungs.
And while Carly found Gaga’s over-the-top antics irritating at times, there was no denying her talent, even from an early age.
Carly said, “She started doing her own music way before she was doing musical theater stuff, and when she played at the NYU talent show, she was singing her own stuff, and I was like, ‘You can’t argue, that girl is really good.’ She was good at everything, but she was better at her own stuff. She was down at the piano, wailing her own tunes.”
The Bachelor Nation star also shared that Gaga had her over-the-top style back in college, rocking tight leotards and clothes that were “extra” to class.
Carly and Lady Gaga actually both ended up dropping out of the program at the same time and Gaga went on to pursue her extremely successful music career.
Carly said, “I don’t know what she did, but she’s a genius,” and acknowledged that while she wasn’t the biggest fan of Gaga while they were in school together, her talent is now “so above” the other people from their class.
