Throwing it back.

As we’re watching Season 9 of “Bachelor in Paradise” unfold each week, this week, we’re throwing it back to a heartbreaking split in Bachelor Nation history.

This week last year, Aaron Clancy and Genevieve Parisi broke up on the beaches of “Paradise” when deciding if they could make their relationship work in the real world.

Aaron kicked off their conversation and shared why he didn’t think it would work out.

He said, “We’ve gone through some ups and downs, but the main thing that I have an issue with us is whenever there is something wrong, you’ve wanted to leave. You’ve packed your bags and you’ve been on the road. That is scary for me.

“If you love someone, this is probably the easiest it’s going to get. I’m going to be honest with you, life is not easy and we need to be teammates. I want someone who will fight in the trenches with me and will stick around. That’s something that’s so important. I need someone that can give me security.”

He said he didn’t want to continue their relationship with her outside, but it is “heartbreaking because I do love you and I will always cherish this time with you.”

Genevieve didn’t say anything to Aaron at the moment and just got up and walked away.

In a conversation with Victoria Fuller as she was packing her things, Gen opened up about how she was feeling.

She said, “He turned it on me completely, I get it, I was the one that left with my bags. But that’s because of how he talked to me. I thought we got past that. Why have me stay if you’re not okay with it. He just blamed me for everything. He started by telling me the things he likes about me and I’m like, ‘Thanks, I don’t f*cking care.’ I hate how he turned that on me. I wish I brought up the fact that he did not mention one thing he did. It was all just what I did. Maybe he doesn’t see his behavior.”

Genevieve went back to talk to Aaron now that she had some time to process and shared how she felt.

She said, “You just tried to put everything on me. You just made it seem like it was all me. You said I looked pretty. This is not pointless because you are trying to rewrite everything and make it seem like you did nothing wrong. I reacted because of what you did. It’s both of us, but you just made it seem like it was all me. You’re forgetting that I was upset. Why didn’t you just let me go when I packed my bags?”

Aaron responded, “Because I thought there would be a change. It’s clear now that we don’t fit together. We don’t mesh. Obviously you don’t hear what I’m saying when I’m saying it. This time you can pack your bags and I won’t come up to stop you.”

And Gen replied saying, “I don’t want you to.”
