Exciting next steps!

Bachelor Nation fans saw Gerry Turner and Theresa Nist find love and get engaged on Season 1 of “The Golden Bachelor.”

During the “After the Final Rose” finale, the two announced that they are planning a wedding that will be broadcast for all of Bachelor Nation to enjoy.

And they aren’t waiting long — their wedding is only a few weeks away in January 2024!

Now, the happy couple sat down for their very first interview together on the “Bachelor Happy Hour” podcast with co-hosts Joe Amabile and Serena Pitt.

Serena asked why they decided to plan their wedding so quickly, as it took her an entire year for her and Joe to wedding plan.

Gerry said, “We’re old! Think about it this way: You can wait a year in your 20s because that might be 3% of your remaining life. When you’re in your 70s, a year could be 10% or 20% of the time you have left. We didn’t want to put off what we really felt was right. When the obstacle of geography was overcome, which was something that I thought would hold us back with timing, we really didn’t have any problems.”

The Golden Bachelor went on, saying, “We both know how compatible we are and the feelings are there. Our families are incredibly close in such a short time. They are talking all the time and refer to each other as sisters now. We could not find a good reason to not move forward quickly.”

And the couple also shared their future plans with Theresa discussing their upcoming move to South Carolina.

She shared that they are looking for a home and said, “We are going to live in South Carolina just outside the Charleston area. He’s always had this thought for the last two years and no one really knew that. It was all like, ‘Are you going to move to Indiana?’ But I wasn’t moving to Indiana and I have a son and a daughter and I live four minutes from my daughter and my three grandsons, and I have a son who lives in South Carolina.”

She continued, adding, “We want the family to visit all the time and we want a home that everyone will love to come to and we plan on visiting family all the time. We are going to have a very active life and family is so important to us.”
