Bachelor Nation fans saw Gerry Turner and Theresa Nist find love and get engaged on Season 1 of “The Golden Bachelor.”

During the “After the Final Rose” finale, the two announced that they are planning a wedding that will be broadcast for all of Bachelor Nation to enjoy.

Now, the happy couple sat down for an exclusive interview with Joe Amabile and Serena Pitt on the “Bachelor Happy Hour” podcast.

The couple discussed what it was like finding love again in this next chapter of life.

Theresa said, “The first time when looking for your first love, you’re looking to start a family and that’s a way different dynamic. You’re looking for not only a good husband but also a good father. This time, we’re looking for equal partners. Someone who will enjoy life with you and has the same philosophies about life as you do.”

She went on, saying, “On this journey, you saw me so many times telling him that I love him, and I did that because when you’re older, if you feel something, you should say something. If I didn’t give him that information, he wouldn’t have known where he stood with me. I was vulnerable and laid it all out on the table, just the way he did with every woman.”

And Gerry chimed in saying that he really appreciated Theresa’s ability to allow him to fully explore all the potential connections, saying, “There was absolutely no insecurity or jealousy from her and that also stood out to me. If you were a keen observer and watched throughout, that was pretty unique for Theresa to display that.”

Theresa shared how she was able to avoid feeling jealous and stay open-minded with the process.

She said, “From the very beginning of this journey, I only ever wanted him to find the best possible person for him. I wasn’t trying to push my agenda on this. I am an extremely open-minded person and I really wanted him to explore it with every single person so he could be absolutely sure.”

Theresa went on, saying, “Was I nervous? Not really, that’s just not me. I knew that if it was meant to be, it was meant to be. It is hard, and you know that this is the journey and that there are other women. So yes, I wanted him to explore everything, but I had those real feelings and to go on that first date, that was so great. I knew that I had to step back after that and allow him to finish the entire journey, and Gerry said to me that he was so excited after our first date but didn’t want to get stuck on the first date.”

Serena asked Gerry if Theresa’s ability to allow him explore threw him off at all and made him worry she wasn’t fully invested.

Gerry said, “I can’t say it threw me off, but I was overwhelmed by her level of unselfishness and it was really legit. The first time or two I thought she was faking it, but then I saw it play over and over again. and this woman is completely unselfish and open-minded. It compelled me to protect her heart even more, so like, I can’t let something happen to someone who is as innocent as she about this.”

How sweet! We love Gerry and Theresa’s love and can’t wait to get these two married!
