Leslie Fhima Reveals When She Knew Gerry Was Going to Break Up with Her and If She’s Ready to Date Again
Opening up.
Bachelor Nation fans saw Leslie Fhima look for love on Season 1 of “The Golden Bachelor,” and during last week’s finale, we saw Leslie heartbroken.
After her shocking breakup with Gerry Turner, Leslie stopped by the “Bachelor Happy Hour” podcast and got candid about the split and whether she’s ready for love again.
Leslie shared with co-hosts Joe Amabile and Serena Pitt about the moment she knew it was over for her and Gerry.
She said, “When I heard the knock on the door, I knew that this was it. It’s happened before on the show, and I just knew it was over. It wasn’t like I was going to open the door and he was going to say, ‘I love you so much.’ I just knew.”
Leslie went on, adding, “That’s why I was crying when he left, because when he left, he put his head on my shoulder and started sobbing. I just knew. As far as I knew, a few days before that, I was his choice. So for him to be that emotional, I knew it wasn’t a good sign.”
She said she was blindsided at that moment but didn’t have any regrets about what she said and how she stood up for herself.
Joe and Serena asked the fan favorite if she feels ready to start dating again since her heartbreak with Gerry.
Leslie said, “I haven’t thought about getting back out there yet. It hasn’t worked out in the past, so I don’t know if it’s where I live or what it is. I really focus on my work and my kids and my grandkids. Sometimes when I go on a date, I’m sitting there and thinking that I’d rather be with my kids and grandkids. I have to get out of that mode.”
She continued, saying, “That’s why the show was good; I got to focus on Gerry. But in being vulnerable, I got my heart broken and I really don’t want to go through that again right now. I also don’t want to put my walls up again either. I want to be open. It just might take some time, that’s all.”
And while she’s taking some time to heal, Leslie knows what she’s looking for in a relationship going forward.
She told the co-hosts, “I know exactly what I’m looking for. I am not going to lower my standards, but I’m also not going to be so picky. I don’t need to find someone who loves all the same things as me. At this stage of my life, I am going to be 65 in less than a month, I just really want someone to grow old with and that keeps active and can do things with me.”
She added that she wants “someone who can really be still together with. I want someone who makes me laugh, that loves life, and someone that has a family where we can mesh our families together and they really click. I want a companion.”
We are continuing to send Leslie love, and if you want to check out her full conversation with Serena and Joe, listen to “Bachelor Happy Hour” below.
