Hannah Godwin Reveals Why She’s Been ‘M.I.A.’ and Details Her Emotional Struggle with Insomnia
Getting candid.
Hannah Godwin and Dylan Barbour famously found love and got engaged on Season 6 of “Bachelor in Paradise.”
The two tied the knot over the summer in France, and Hannah has been keeping fans updated with her life on social media since.
Over the past few weeks, Hannah has been noticeably absent from her pages and she just took to YouTube to share why in a vulnerable new video.
The video is titled “My Insomnia Struggles…” and Hannah opened up about her sleep issues as she broke down crying in the 16-minute vlog.
Hannah said, “I have been really, really, really struggling with insomnia. I used to not want to call it that because I would just say I had sleep issues sometimes, but lately it has been full-blown insomnia. I went to bed at like 5:30 or 6:30 a.m. this morning and it’s 11 a.m. now, so I slept maybe three or four hours, which is more than I have been getting.”
She continued on, adding, “Honestly, in the past three weeks, I think I’ve had two nights of rest. Like, I just can’t freaking fall asleep and it’s so frustrating and it holds me back. I’m crying, but I think I’m just tired. It holds me back from everything.”
Hannah says that she knows millions of people struggle with this and she has gotten thousands of responses whenever she’s posted about it.
She appreciated the kind messages and says she reads them all, as she’s tried so many different sleep remedies as she’s gone over 50 nights without sleeping this year alone.
Hannah she’s tried magnesium, melatonin, a hot bath at night, a cold bath at night, no screen time, insomnia exercises, looking at the sun directly in the morning for circadian clock regulating, not taking naps during the day, no caffeine, no alcohol, edibles, breathwork, yoga, exercising every day, and other things.
The Bachelor Nation star revealed, “You name it, I’ve tried it, but I just lay down in bed and the other day for example, I went to bed at 7 a.m. and woke up at 9 a.m. and I was just running on two hours of sleep. It’s just really frustrating and not good for you. I went to my primary care doctor and I’m prescribed sleeping medication, which helps, but I don’t like to take it because it can be habit forming and doesn’t help you improve sleep, it just helps sedate you and knock you out, which I do need sometimes when I really can’t sleep.”
She said she also went to a naturopathic doctor and is working on her B12 deficiency.
Hannah showed some love to others struggling, saying, “For the other people who struggle with this and have struggled like this for years, I am so sorry. It is awful. Even one night of insomnia is terrible. This whole week I’ve felt kind of like a prisoner in my own home because I’m just waiting to see if I sleep that night, then I don’t and I’m up until 7 a.m.”
Hannah thanked fans for sharing their experiences too and hopes to figure out what works for her as she takes people along on this journey with her.
We’re sending Hannah so much love and hope she finds a solution. We know that her sharing her experience will help others going through something similar.
