Abigail Heringer Calls Out People for ‘Making Fun of the Way I Talk’ with Her Deaf Accent
Clapping back.
Bachelor Nation fans first met Abigail Heringer on Season 25 of “The Bachelor,” and she went on to find love with Noah Erb on Season 7 of “Bachelor in Paradise.”
During her time on the Bachelor Nation shows, Abigail opened up about her hearing loss and how she wears a cochlear implant.
And she’s been continuing to educate her followers about being deaf and wearing cochlear implants on social media.
This week, Abi took to her Instagram Stories to call out haters who were making fun of her deaf accent on a recent TikTok video of hers.
The comments on her post said things like “she can’t even talk” and Abigail responded on her Stories.
She wrote, “One of my TikTok videos is getting pushed out as an ad so it’s going on people’s for you pages that don’t follow me and don’t know that I’m deaf. In the video, I mispronounced some words (ironically not the brand name which everyone thinks I did lol) and nearly all these comments are making fun of the way I talk, asking if I’m uneducated, stupid, etc.”
The Bachelor Nation star went on, saying, “I just wanted to share this interaction because this is why I believe it’s so important in educating ourselves and others, especially when it comes to disabilities. All the hateful comments I hope come from ignorance and not the people being shitty for the heck of it. I can’t believe the internet is stooping to the point where we make fun how of people speak, regardless of if they have a disability or not.”
Abigail concluded her post saying that while she tries to be positive about her disability most of the time, this is also the reality of living with one that she doesn’t share as often.
We’re sending Abigail love, and Bachelor Nation, feel free to go flood the comments of her posts with some support!
We know that her continuing to share about her disability helps so many others going through similar struggles.
