Raven Gates Gottschalk Discusses Gender Disappointment, Mental Health, and Friendship with Alexis Waters
Getting candid.
Bachelor Nation fans got to know and love Raven Gates Gottschalk on Season 21 of “The Bachelor” and on Season 4 of “Bachelor in Paradise,” where she met her husband, Adam Gottschalk.
The two welcomed their son Gates in January 2022 and their second baby boy, Max, in July 2023.
Now, the mom of two took to her Instagram Stories to answer fan questions and get candid about all things parenthood, mental health, Bachelor Nation friendships, and more.
During the Q&A, one fan asked Raven if she ever experiences depression and how she gets through the days when her mental health is struggling.
The Bachelor Nation star said, “Absolutely!!! Right now I’m in a good place but if you were to be a fly on the wall, you’d know that I’ve had some very dark days. Some of you may not like my answer. But the answer is God. Prayer.”
Raven went on, saying, “Finding people that speak life into you when you are on empty. Someone that can remind you of who you are and your purpose. Alexis Waters and I have that type of friendship. Also can go to my husband but sometimes he doesn’t understand. Sometimes NO one understands.”
The mom of two says that she always asks for peace even in moments of extreme anxiety and added that therapy and medication can also be helpful, adding, “I think it’s important to seek help. I love you, and I’m rooting for you if you’re struggling. We’re definitely in it together.”
We love how close Raven and Alexis are and how they continue to show up for each other all these years later!
Another fan asked Raven about gender disappointment and if she wishes she had a daughter.
She said, “I would be so blessed to have a daughter one day, but I don’t long for one. I never had gender disappointment, but I totally see how some moms do! I grew up with a brother, all boy cousins, I was the only girl in our neighborhood, etc so I am so used to boys!”
Raven continued, adding, “I do think it would be so special to have a girl. We’ll see! Also, have had so many people say they were disappointed when finding out they’re having a boy. You are not alone!! And you are not a bad mom to think that way! personally have not struggled with it but maybe one day I will? I will be transparent with you guys!”
We love hearing from Raven and love how vulnerable she always is!
