Sarah Herron Gets Candid About Mental Health Amid Pregnancy After Loss: ‘This Pregnancy Is So Different’
Opening up.
Bachelor Nation first met Sarah Herron on Season 17 of “The Bachelor,” and she returned to our screens for Seasons 1 and 3 of “Bachelor in Paradise.”
In September, after many highs and lows of her IVF journey, Sarah revealed that she and her husband Dylan Brown were expecting a baby boy.
Then last year, Sarah took to Instagram to share the tragic news that their baby boy Oliver passed away shortly after he was born prematurely at 24 weeks.
After her pregnancy loss, Sarah eventually did more rounds of IVF and this time, the Bachelor Nation star took to Instagram earlier this month to share the exciting news that she’s pregnant with twin girls.
Now, Sarah posted Instagram Stories where she opened up about her mental health during this pregnancy and got candid about why she’s been more quiet online this time around.
The Bachelor Nation star said, “I just wanted to come on here and touch base a little bit about where I am/have been, mentally and emotionally over the last couple of weeks. As most of you probably know, this week is the one year anniversary since losing our son Oliver, that will be on Sunday. So I’m just feeling kind of quiet and inward this week, but doing pretty good.”
Sarah continued on, saying, “There’s also this side of me and this pregnancy that I haven’t been fully transparent or sharing very candidly about. I think a lot of people assume after a loss when you get pregnant again, it’s just like you’re pregnant and it’s all good and that everything is gonna work out this time. But what you guys don’t see behind the scenes on our end is that the majority of my days are filled with rumination and talking to genetic counselors and maternal fetal medicine doctors.”
The twin-mama-to-be shared that navigating a high-risk pregnancy from her small mountain town in Colorado has been difficult and she’s also changed healthcare providers and is starting over after her pregnancy with Oliver.
Sarah also shared there is another added layer to her anxiety, saying, “To further complicate things and intensify things is these two babies that I am pregnant with now are our mosaic embryos, they were made from mosaic embryos. That means there’s a ton of consideration that has to go into genetic testing of them. And it’s a lot.”
The Bachelor Nation star said that thankfully everything is going well so far and she feels like she has great care in Denver (she and her husband drive four hours for their doctor’s appointments).
And despite everything going well so far, Sarah shared that, “I just wanted to share all of this with you guys because this pregnancy is so different. I don’t feel like coming on and talking about symptoms or bumpdates in the way that I used to because there’s trauma and I am approaching pregnancy completely differently after loss.”
She shared that she wanted to open up about where she’s been at because she appreciates the community she’s created and loves being transparent about her experience so far.
We’re continuing to send Sarah and her family all the best as they navigate this exciting pregnancy and continue to mourn the loss of their son Oliver.
