Michelle Young Launches Nonprofit for Underserved Students: ‘Heading Back To the Classroom!’
Important work.
As Bachelor Nation fans know, former Bachelorette Michelle Young announced in 2022 that she’d be temporarily taking a step back from her teaching career.
Michelle taught fifth grade in Minnesota, and at the time, she revealed that there were many factors that led to her decision to step out of the classroom for the 2022-2023 school year.
She shared at the time that while she was burned out after teaching during the pandemic, she still wanted to find ways to give back and is open to returning to the classroom in the future.
Now, Michelle just took to Instagram to share that she launched a nonprofit organization to benefit underserved students.
On her Instagram Stories, the former Bachelorette wrote, “Not many 30-year-olds can say they created their own non-profit! This process has shown me just how hard it is to create change and resources for others. The Michelle Young Foundation appreciates any level of support and even your smallest donations will make an impact on our students.”
In another post, Michelle said, "This teacher is heading back to the classroom! The last 9 months I’ve focused on healing my teacher burnout, networking, brainstorming, building blueprints, and creating a team of people who are passionate about their community. [...] I’ll be in the classroom working with our learning coaches, athletic coaches, and students to pilot our very first program. I’ve learned just how long creating your own nonprofit takes, but am so proud of the impact I’ll continue to make."
And on her foundation’s website, Michelle details the work she is doing.
The site says, “The Michelle Young Foundation exists to create customized scholarships, educator partnerships, and distinctive programming so underserved students can access growth opportunities. We value community, educators, opportunity, inclusion, and accessibility.”
She also revealed how the foundation came to be and what inspired her to start her own nonprofit.
The website reads, “Our Founder, Michelle Young, is an educator with experience both in the classroom as a 5th-grade teacher and in supportive roles. Michelle taught during the COVID-19 pandemic and knows firsthand the heart and time that goes into being an educator.”
It goes on, saying, “Michelle’s passion for creating opportunities for underserved students and supporting educators is why she has developed The Michelle Young Foundation.”
We love the important work Michelle continues to do and can’t wait to see the major difference she’s going to make with this nonprofit.
