‘Bachelor’ Sisters Lauren & Allison Discuss Lauren’s Decision to Leave the Show: ‘I Was Meant to Go’
Getting candid.
Bachelor Nation fans have been watching sisters Lauren and Allison look for love with Bachelor Joey on Season 28 of the show.
In this week’s episode, Lauren decided to leave the show and now she and Allison stopped by the “Bachelor Happy Hour” podcast to discuss her decision.
Co-hosts Joe Amabile and Serena Pitt asked Allison if she and Lauren got a chance to talk about her decision before Lauren decided to self-eliminate.
Allison said, “I remember her telling me that she didn’t know if she could be there anymore and that everything she’d been through that whole week just brought her down and put her in a bad headspace. So after that, I knew she was definitely planning on eliminating herself.”
She went on, sharing how Lauren’s decision made her feel, saying, “I was feeling two ways. I was like, this is my sister, my support system here, and it’s hard enough going through this experience alone, so having her there was definitely a bonus. But at the same time, having her leave made me able to focus on my relationship with Joey.”
Lauren also opened up about deciding to leave and whether she would’ve done anything differently.
The Bachelor Nation star said, “I had already made such a scene about it, and when I’m in a bad mood, I’m in a bad mood. Looking back, in hindsight, I know I could’ve handled it better and done things a little differently. I wasn’t as mentally prepared as I thought I was for the whole experience. I thought that I was going to breeze through this sh*t, but then second episode, I’m done.”
Lauren continued, “When Joey came over and we sat down, I was like, okay, maybe I can stay, but then they brought out the cake and it wasn’t red velvet. That set me off again and I was like, forget it, I’m leaving. I just needed to leave and mentally heal a little more. I wasn’t through the whole grieving process. If I stayed longer, I didn’t know how much worse it could get for me, honestly. That’s how I was in the second episode.”
Serena asked Lauren if she felt like her father’s passing was the main reason she left or if there were other reasons she wanted to go home.
Lauren got candid, saying, “I think grieving the loss of my father was one part, but another was that I was used to dating one person and wasn’t used to competing with so many people. Hearing about other people’s conversations and everyone feeling good made me start to overthink and I just got in my head and thought that maybe this isn’t for me right now. It was time for me to go. It wasn’t meant to be.”
Lauren also said that if Joey fought for her to say, she would’ve considered it, “but looking back, I know I was meant to go.”
