Demi Burnett Shares Why She’s Been Celibate for 2 Years and Updates on Relationship with Mom
Getting personal.
Bachelor Nation fans first met Demi Burnett on Season 23 of “The Bachelor,” and then again on Seasons 6 and 7 of “Bachelor in Paradise.”
Now, she’s updating fans about her dating life, her relationship with her mom, and more on Ashley Iaconetti and Ben Higgins’ “Almost Famous” podcast.
On the pod, Demi shared that she is currently “so single” and hasn’t been on a proper date in years.
She also shared that she hasn’t had sex since publicly coming out with her autism diagnosis and sobriety.
Demi said, “I’ve been celibate for two years. I’m not having sex. Since I stopped drinking, I really went back to my old high school ways of being a prude.”
When Ben and Ashley asked if Demi’s decision to not have sex was by choice, she got candid, saying, “The act of it is disgusting, our bodily fluids touching each other. Have they washed their hands? Am I going to have to ask them, like, brush your teeth? All of these things that I’m just like, it’s not worth it to me.”
Demi went on saying, “Whereas when I was younger, I didn’t really care about all that stuff. Now that I’m not, I am very weird about all of that, and I can get turned off so easily because of the smell.”
As far as her dating life goes, Demi is still on the market and looking for love, though she did tease that she’s been spending some time with a fellow reality star who is also on the autism spectrum.
Ben and Ashley also asked Demi for an update about her relationship with her mom, who Demi famously opened up about on “The Bachelor.”
Demi’s mom was in prison while she was on the show and late last year, Demi shared photos with her mom for the first time after her release.
Demi opened up about where their relationship is now, saying, “My mom is my bestie now... she helps me so much. A lot of the things that I struggle with are invisible things like paying bills. I have the money, but making sure everything is paid on time and autopay doesn’t always work out. I am really terrible with that part of adulting.”
She continued saying, “My mom has been helping me so much with that... It is such a relief for me and helps alleviate so much anxiety. That’s been the biggest gift. She is taking care of me. We have such a good relationship and she doesn’t ask for anything in return.”
We love to hear that and we’re glad Demi is doing well! Check out her full conversation with Ben and Ashley here.
