EXCLUSIVE: Lace Morris Celebrates First Mother’s Day: ‘Truly Proud I Am Doing This Alone’
Celebrating moms!
Bachelor Nation fans first met Lace Morris on Season 20 of “The Bachelor,” and she returned to our screens for Seasons 3 and 8 of “Bachelor in Paradise.”
Then, last summer, Lace announced that she was expecting her first child, but she and her ex ended up going their separate ways before her son Liam was born last month.
Now, Lace is celebrating her first Mother’s Day and shared with BachelorNation.com that she’ll be spending it with her son, her mom, and grandma.
Check out our full exclusive Mother’s Day interview with Lace below!
Bachelor Nation: First of all, congrats on baby Liam! He is so gorgeous. What has life been like since welcoming him?
Lace Morris: Thank you so much! It has been a whirlwind. It’s almost like I don’t know how I did life before him! Unfortunately, as a single mom, it has been very overstimulating, but I’m patting myself on the back ’cause he’s six weeks alive and healthy, ha!
BN: That’s a major accomplishment! You’re doing the most. What has surprised you most about motherhood?
LM: I feel like the recovery/postpartum emotions and breastfeeding, not enough people talk about it. It’s hard as hell. Going through all that pain, emotion, and tending to a newborn. Breastfeeding is not for the weak. They destroy your nipples at first. It’s so painful but worth it, though! Also, my whole pregnancy I thought pushing was gonna be so bad… It’s the contractions that kill you, ha!
BN: Yes, that fourth trimester recovery period is no joke. Do you have a favorite part of being a mom so far?
LM: As cliché as it sounds, seeing him change every day. It’s so fascinating how you wake up and bam, they look a little different and grow into their looks. Him smiling at me melts me! I also love how natural it feels to me!
BN: He’s so lucky to have you as his mama! How would you say motherhood has changed you?
LM: Holy moly, for the better!!! I give it to single moms, it’s no joke. You have to be tough as shit dealing with your emotions of the split with the father and raising a brand-new human, plus postpartum. It’s crazy. I truly believe I’m about to be my best self because of motherhood. It’s taught me to slow down and have patience!!!
BN: That is so true and so beautifully said. What milestones are you most looking forward to with Liam right now?
LM: I’m excited for the 6-to-9-month stage. I feel like so much progression happens there and they start to figure things out. Also, most of all, the mother-son bond!!!
BN: Moms and their boys have the strongest bonds! What does being a mom mean to you?
LM: A privilege. To protect my son and show him unconditional love. Show him strength by guidance. It means creating a gentleman and human in this world who will make a better place.
BN: Love that so much. What do you hope to teach him as he grows up?
LM: To be a gentleman and kind. True love. Self-worth. To teach him right from wrong and let him learn on his own as well. Everything!
BN: Yes to all of that! Do you have any advice for fellow new parents?
LM: If you’re alone, be kind to yourself and have patience and strength. Lean into friends and family. If you have a partner, be kind and help each other out!
BN: What’s your proudest mom moment so far?
LM: He’s alive! Totally kidding. I’m truly proud I am doing this alone and well. He’s healthy and beautiful.
BN: Yes, he is! And last question, would you let Liam watch your Bachelor Nation journey one day when he’s older?
LM: Hahahahahaha! I’ll cross that bridge when it comes.
BN: Love it! Thank you so much, Lace, and happy first Mother’s Day!
