20 Questions with Thomas N.: Find Out His Biggest Pet Peeve and Who Inspires Him the Most
Fans are getting to know Thomas N. on Jenn’s seasons of “The Bachelorette,” and now he’s opening up exclusively to BachelorNation.com, answering 20 rapid-fire questions.
Get to know Thomas N. a little better below!
1. A taboo topic I love talking about is: Mental health. I’m a huge advocate about men and women getting into therapy and talking/working through their emotions and feelings. Men get a bad knock for being emotional, but I’m all about ending that stigma of men getting mental health help. I’ve been going for the last five or six years and now it’s something that I look forward to every week/month.
2. I think a celebrity couple that is the definition of #relationshipgoals is: Ryan Reynolds and Blake Lively. They’re both so driven in their own professional endeavors, but when they come together, they’re just mom and dad who always have each other’s back and it’s inspiring.
3. My guilty pleasure is: Dessert. Give me a skillet cookie and some ice cream and I’ll go to town!
4. The best relationship advice I ever received was: It’s okay to be small sometimes. Relationships aren’t always 50/50. If my partner can only bring 20 to the table after a hard day, then I’m gonna bring the 80. If something went wrong where I can only muster up 30 today, then my partner can bring up the 70. Whatever we can do to support the other and put the relationship first.
5. My biggest pet peeve is: Eating and drinking loudly orrrrr standing up right away when the seatbelt signs go off on an airplane.
6. The first thing I do when I wake up is: Let my dogs Milli and Rue out in the back yard and drink a cup of water while getting some sun on the back deck.
7. My last meal on earth would be: I’d have to say Korean barbecue or dim sum. I grew up always sharing food and talking and hanging out around the dinner table, so it wouldn’t really matter the food as long as I got to share it/interact with my friends and family.
8. The song that always gets me pumped up is: I can’t pick ONE, so I’ll give you two. “Everytime We Touch” by Cascada or “Fire Burning” by Sean Kingston. Two absolute BANGERS.
9. My hidden talent is: Volleyball. Don’t let this 5’9” frame fool you — I had a 38 in vert when I was in college.
10. My current phone screen saver is: A picture of my mom and my sister, Gianna. It’s the last pic I have of my sister, so it really means a lot to me.
11. The person that inspires me the most is: My mom. No brainer. She was born in a village in the woods of Vietnam with no running water and no electricity in her hut that would get destroyed if it stormed too hard. She escaped during the war to give herself and our family a shot at a life she could never have in Vietnam. She and my dad raised us and turned it around in a single generation. She’s the most fierce woman I’ve ever met.
12. The movie I’ve rewatched the most is: Don’t come at me for this answer, but “Lord of the Rings.” Extended edition lol.
13. The most famous person who has slid into my DMs/followed me on social media is: Slid into my DMs?!?! Nobody! I’m friends with a couple Olympic swimmers. So I would have to say some of those guys. Shout-out to the UGA swim team.
14. My favorite emoji is: Either the facepalm ’cause I’m always forgetting something or doing something dumb or the emoji that’s blowing smoke out of its nose ’cause that what I use when I think something is TOUGH 😤.
15. The last thing I Googled is: How much caffeine is too much caffeine to consume in one day…
16. My favorite part of being on “The Bachelorette” was: The places I got to go, the people I got to meet, and the experiences I had. It was a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity that I’ll never forget!
17. Being on “The Bachelorette” taught me: That it is okay to be unapologetically yourself. People will resonate with you and gravitate to you. So often you’ll see people put on a front when the cameras are around or change who they are to fit their surroundings. People in the house appreciated that I was the same Thomas N. no matter who I was around, and I think that shows people your true authentic self.
18. If I had to hang out with only three people from Bachelor Nation for the rest of my life, it would be: Sam M. from my season, of course. That’s my boy. Robby Hayes because we’ve known each other for a while through swimming and I love his brothers. And Matt James. He seems like a guy that I would get along with and he’s been to ATL a little with his gf, so he’s right down the road.
19. If you go on “The Bachelorette,” don’t forget to pack: A journal. I journaled through my entire journey, and looking back through my days and interactions a couple months later was really cool.
20. Where do you see yourself in 5 years? I asked Jenn this question at a cocktail party. I’d like to be married to the love of my life and with at least one child. I’d love to be well-traveled with my partner and continue to grow in my career. I’d love to retire my parents so they don’t have to work again and buy another house, preferably on a beach somewhere.
