Bachelor Nation couple Dean Unglert and Caelynn Miller-Keyes (now known as the Bells) found love on Season 6 of “Bachelor in Paradise” and got engaged in 2022.

The two officially tied the knot on September 23, 2023, at Beyul Retreat in Meredith, Colorado.

Now, the fan-favorite duo is opening up about how they first met and their real first impressions of each other on the “Dear Shandy” podcast.

Dean shared that the first time he talked to Caelynn was when she slid into his DMs on Instagram after his season of “The Bachelorette” with Rachel Lindsay. 

Caelynn saw that Dean was traveling through Asia and offered to give him some tips since she had been there previously. Then after some small talk, Caelynn told Dean, “Whenever you’re back in the U.S., let’s meet up for a cup of coffee.”

Dean accepted and immediately scrolled through her profile, but it was not love at first sight. He started laughing when remembering what his first impression of Caelynn was. “I was like, a pageant girl? No, thank you. Zero percent my type.”

They still set a date for when he came back from traveling, but the pair ended up canceling their coffee meet-up. “It is for the best,” Caelynn chimed in, “because had we met then, I don’t think we’d be together now, honestly.” 

The pair went on to recall how Caelynn went on “The Bachelor” about a year later, and Dean didn’t realize she was the same person who had DM’d him earlier. 

He admitted that it wasn’t until a mutual friend told him that Caelynn shared she had messaged Dean that he pieced together, “Oh, my God, that’s the girl I just watched on the TV a couple nights ago!”

Dean shared that when he was going on “Bachelor in Paradise,” he figured Caelynn might be there, but didn’t have any pre-planned intentions of asking her on a date. 

He revealed, “I didn’t plan to go down there… to take her on a date, but it just so happened to be that she was the person I had the best chemistry with.” 

The Bells went on to discuss how those first impressions have changed over time and Caelynn shared, “He’s still hilarious and handsome and he is just the best husband ever… but he’s way more adventurous than I ever knew.” 

She explained how she thought he only dabbled in skydiving and started living in a van but now realizes that Dean tries to “seek out adventure any time he can.”

Dean agreed and shared how he wasn’t the most adventurous person when he was living in L.A. because he would always go to the bars with his friends every weekend. 

He realized, “When I got in my late 20s, I was kind of like, ‘That was fun when I was 23 and single.’ It’s not so fun when you’re 29 and in a relationship.” 

When asked if Caelynn was seeking an adventurer, she laughed and said no as she recalled how Dean took her skydiving as an apology date after “Paradise.” 

“I stood at the edge of the plane, he jumped first, which was his mistake,” she shared laughing, “I stood at the edge of the plane and backed out and they had to land and descend the plane.”

So wild! 

The couple now lives in a beautiful home they bought in Colorado and love to go on many, maybe slightly calmer, adventures together in Dean’s home state.
