Abigail Heringer Shares Letter She Wrote to Her Younger Self: ‘I Want You to Know How Proud I Am’
A proud moment!
Bachelor Nation fans first met Abigail Heringer on Season 25 of “The Bachelor,” and she went on to find love with Noah Erb on Season 7 of “Bachelor in Paradise.”
During her time on the Bachelor Nation shows, Abigail opened up about her hearing loss and how she wears a cochlear implant.
Since then, she’s been continuing to educate her followers about her experience and wearing cochlear implants on social media.
Now, Abi has shared that her very first book, “The Deaf Girl: A Memoir of Hearing Loss, Hope, and Fighting Against the Odds,” is officially published and out on shelves!
Abi opened up online about what this moment means to her and what she thinks her younger self would feel if she knew this day was going to happen.
She wrote, “The Deaf Girl is officially out, and it’s a bittersweet moment. This story has been 29 years in the making, with the last three spent bringing it to life. While I’m celebrating one of my greatest achievements, it’s also been a time I’ve been reflecting a lot on how my younger self would feel if she knew this day would come. Here’s a letter I wrote to her…”
Abi goes on to share that she’s overwhelmed with emotions including excitement, nervousness, and gratitude, but also that she thinks about her younger self often and is proud of who she’s become.
“You may not believe it yet, but the struggles you’re facing right now - the confusion, the isolation, the frustration - are all shaping you for this moment. One day, you’ll share your story with the world, and you’ll realize that all the hurdles, every difficult moment, were all worth it,” she wrote.
“I want you to know that you will get stronger,” Abi continued, “You’ll find your people, the ones who don’t just accept your differences but celebrate them. And through them, you’ll learn to love yourself even more.”
Abi shared photos of herself as a child alongside current pictures of her holding her book, and fans flooded her comments with words of love and support.
Abi’s older sister, Rachel Heringer, wrote, “We walked side by side for a long time but to see you forge your own path with such courage and grace, I am so proud of you lil sis. I can’t wait to keep up with you and see what else is in store. The story continues! 🫶🏼”
Fellow Bachelor Nation star Daisy Kent also showed support by commenting, “You have always been someone who inspired me & one of the first people I saw who made me realize (at a time I thought my world was falling apart) that losing my hearing could be such a beautiful part of me. Can’t wait to read, what a huge accomplishment!!! Congrats, cheering you on always 💓🦻🏻”
Abi’s fiancé, Noah, posted a video showing the behind-the-scenes of her book cover and shared support for his partner in his caption.
He wrote, “OHHH YEAHH🗣️ Having a fiancée who wrote a life memoir feels like a cheat code because it answers questions you never knew you had. This book has always been a passion project for Abi but it gave me a perspective I’m embarrassed to say I never thought of. I’m not sure the impact this will have or confidence it will give but I know if just one person benefits, the last three years will be worth it for her 🥹”
Noah also mentioned that Abi is going on a book tour and starting in their own town.
“Tulsa has always been a big part of our lives and is our first stop before visiting some of the organizations and schools that were also integral parts of her hearing impairment journey,” he wrote, “Share this with a friend you think would enjoy, I hope to see everyone there 👋”
Fellow Bachelor Nation stars, Natasha Parker, Serena Pitt, Joe Amabile, Chelsea Vaughn, and Dotun Olubeko, all gathered together in New York to grab dinner with Abi and Noah and celebrate her book launch.
"Celebrated pub day with the sweetest humans!!," Abi wrote on a video of everyone clinking their drinks in celebration.
We love seeing all of the support for Abi and are so excited to read her book! We know that her continuing to share her story helps so many people.
