Charity Lawson Reveals Why She & Dotun Olubeko Are Pausing Wedding Plans: ‘I Personally Am Overwhelmed’
Opening up.
Bachelor Nation fans saw Charity Lawson and Dotun Olubeko fall in love and get engaged on Season 20 of “The Bachelorette.”
Since their time on the show, the two have been enjoying time with their family and friends and have moved in together in New York City.
Recently, Charity and Dotun gave an update on wedding planning and who from Bachelor Nation they plan on inviting.
Now, Charity has taken to her Instagram to answer some fan questions about their upcoming nuptials and address why they have decided to take a pause in planning.
As fans know, Charity chatted exclusively with US Weekly on why she and Dotun are “taking a beat” on preparing for their wedding, and it’s raised some concerns about the couple’s relationship.
One fan asked, “Can you address those [headlines] making it look like ur splitting.”
Charity responded by saying that she didn’t want to address it, but that she would, and reassured her followers that she and Dotun are fine. She admitted that she accidentally chose the wrong word to use that has now left room for interpretation.
“If you read the article you would realize that there’s literally nothing wrong with what I said,” she stated, “I just probably used not the best choice of words, which is the word ‘pausing’.”
She went on, “The whole thing is that we were just kind of trying to give an update and talking about where we’re at with wedding planning, and it is a lot, so we’re just taking a moment to decompress. And to make sure that with wedding planning, it does not take away the joy that we have had in our engagement time and to continue to have so much to look forward to.”
Charity also shared that she and Dotun are planning not one but two weddings, which has been very overwhelming.
“We’re just trying to do things the right way and take it day by day and really enjoy our time with each other in this time period, so we’re all good. Nothing to worry about,” she commented.
The Bachelor Nation star also wrote that she and her fiancé have a lot going on at the moment with work, traveling, and moving projects, which has contributed to feeling stressed. “I personally am overwhelmed,” she shared, “and it’s okay to acknowledge that.”
Another fan asked Charity if she plans on keeping her last name once she does get married, to which she replied that she’s not.
She said, “I will be proudly taking Dots last name. If anything changes it would be hyphenated. Charity Olubeko, don’t play with it.”
It’s got a nice ring to it!
We can’t wait to celebrate the future Olubekos when their wedding day comes, and we are so excited for all that the future holds for Charity and Dotun.
