Hope and Heartbreak for Joan Vassos Coming Up on ‘The Golden Bachelorette’ — See the Season’s Teaser
New beginnings.
The very first season of “The Golden Bachelorette” just kicked off and we couldn’t be more excited for our leading lady, Joan Vassos.
After the first night, she and her remaining men are ready to find love and go on an adventure of a lifetime.
Night 1 left Joan feeling hopeful, and in the teaser for the season, we hear her say, “In this journey, you get a second chance at life, and the second chance could be as good as the first one… I feel like one of these men could be the next great love of my life.”
We see her going on a series of romantic, exciting dates, like riding a roller coaster, going horseback riding, and flying by private jet.
The men share their excitement for this journey to find love, and Gil says, “I don’t want someone to get old with, I want someone to stay young with.”
The guys participate in different sport activities with Joan, including bowling and kickball, and we hear Keith joke, “Our brains think that we’re 25, but our bodies are like, ‘No, you’re not.’”
We get a glimpse into more of the activities on dates, such as walking through a vineyard, slow dancing, and a strip tease, and overhear one of the men say, “We’re all having a great time, but at the end of the day, we’re all here for a second chance at love.”
Mark shares, “Finding love is something everybody hopes for” and he “want[s] that perfect feeling again.” We then hear Joan say, “I love you, Mark” as the two share a kiss.
Everything seems to be going smoothly until Joan expresses some doubts.
We see her get emotional and she admits, “John told me before he passed away that he wanted me to find somebody and he truly meant it. Yet I still feel this guilt.”
Joan starts to break down and shares with the men, “People keep asking me, ‘Are you 100% ready?’ And I keep saying yes. But I feel like I’m not really, and I don’t know if I ever will be because John was a huge part of my life.”
Gil confides in one of the guys and says, “She probably wants to walk away.”
We then see former Golden Bachelor Gerry Turner step out of a limo and sit down with Joan as he asks her, “Have you considered the possibility that your guy is not here?”
We hear Joan say, “This isn’t easy. Because you feel like you have to step away from another life to step into a new life. I’m realizing I don’t have to mourn the rest of my life. I deserve to have a second chance at love.”
She goes on to say, “The potential for a future, it’s the reason I’m here. It’s the renewed hope.”
We see Gil open up to the rest of the men and share, “Every day I wake up and I think about my wife and I’m not over that loss. But there’s a hole, and I’m trying to fill it.” They all embrace in a group hug, and then we see Guy confess to Joan, “I’m falling for you” as he shares a kiss with her on a bench.
Mark confides in Pascal that a hummingbird appeared near him and he says, “It’s like my wife was there and she’s saying this is right.” And Pascal responds, “Yes, this is right for you to be here, Mark.”
Joan gets teary-eyed and shares, “This journey is not just about me. It’s about people like me everywhere. The risk is worth the reward.”
We see Jonathan start crying on the couch next to Gary and we overhear him say, “In 1981, my heart was broken. And I knew she was gone. In 2024, you have helped my heart heal.”
The last thing we see is Joan standing on the beach in a beautiful white dress and hear her say, “I don’t know if this is fate or good luck, but I feel like the luckiest person in the world right now. I’ve only been in love with one person… more than one now.”
We can’t wait to watch it all unfold and see how Joan’s journey ends! Make sure to tune in to “The Golden Bachelorette” every Wednesday on ABC or stream later on Hulu.
