Joan Vassos Writes a Poem About Her ‘Golden Bachelorette’ Experience: ‘Continuing to Do Things That Scare Me’
A true poet!
Fans got to know and love Joan Vassos on Season 1 of “The Golden Bachelor” and now as the leading lady on Season 1 of “The Golden Bachelorette.”
While on “The Golden Bachelor,” Joan stood out during a talent show group date when she performed an original poem about being nervous meeting Gerry Turner.
And now the men on “The Golden Bachelorette” just went through a similar experience by showing off their best skills during another talent show group date.
In honor of the one-year anniversary since Joan performed her original poem, the Golden Bachelorette has shared another piece she created.
However, this time it’s a reflection about her experience on “The Golden Bachelorette” as well as explaining more about her original talent show performance.
She posted a video and captioned it, “In honor of the one year anniversary of the @goldenbachabc talent show, and to hold myself accountable for continuing to do things that scare me, I wanted to share a new poem I wrote…”
Joan started off the poem by saying, “One year ago today, the Golden Bachelor said we’d perform in a talent show. I looked around the mansion to hide, but there was no safe place to go. But being on stage with no talent to boast led me to write a poem about what scared me the most.”
She continued, “By the way, it was called, ‘I Just Hope I Don’t Vomit on Your Shoes.’ Which when I stepped out of the limo, it was what I thought I might do. I’ll be honest and tell you that it took me two vodka drinks to get me on that stage. And soon realized that without my old lady reading glasses, I couldn’t see what was on that poet page.
“With shaking hands and jumbled thoughts, I barely made it through the lines,” Joan expressed, “But miraculously I was given the win by the Golden Bachelor, who thought I did just fine. This year I’m watching as the host of the group date, and I feel nervous again for these men and that I have to decide their fate.”
The Golden Bachelorette then shared how she felt seeing the men perform their talents during the group date.
She said, “But I soon find out how funny, talented, and brave they are. From yoyos to karate, comedy and ribbon routines, they are all stars. Because in the end, it doesn’t matter what you do, this date is about whether someone is willing to have some fun with you.”
Joan finished her poem with one last encouraging thought: “So maybe my poem for this year has an underlying lesson to live by. Doing things that scare you the most will help you to reach places as high as the sky.”
We love it!
Joan is such a talented poet and we always love seeing the content she shares.
