Katie Thurston Gets Candid About Dealing With ‘Impostor Syndrome’ and Bachelor Nation Reacts
Opening up.
Bachelor Nation fans first met Katie Thurston on Season 25 of “The Bachelor” and she returned to our screens for Season 17 of “The Bachelorette.”
Since her time on the shows, Katie has been keeping fans updated with her life on social media, and this week, she opened up online about struggling with impostor syndrome.
In a new video, Katie shared, “I’m going to be very honest with you guys. There are many moments where I feel almost like ‘impostor syndrome’ a little bit. I’ve been reflecting on the last four years. Your life changes when you go through what I did, and it’s a lot, and it can be almost suffocating, and you start to kind of question, do I deserve what I have?”
She continued, “Oftentimes I want to share things about my life, and there’s so many times when I think that way that I also think, like, ‘Katie, no one cares. No one cares what you have to say.’ That’s, like, my own inner battle of finding my confidence again. I think when you gain such a large audience of love and hate, there’s still just like an impact that it has on you.”
Katie started to get emotional and shared that even though she’s been struggling, she was recently reminded of why she is online after interacting with some fans through DM.
She expressed, “Sometimes you get a message that says, ‘I reported my attacker because you inspired me to do so.’ And that’s not me tooting my own horn — that person is so brave and deserves all the credit for doing that. It’s just like little moments like that that remind me that I belong here, that I can make a positive change. I can use my platform and my audience for good and I can impact others in such a positive way.”
Katie also opened up about feeling doubts around sharing things and still second guesses her choices even though she feels grateful she has shared about her life.
She said, “Previously, I had a little community I built on my own before TV and I would never second guess sharing anything… And so I just thought I would put this out there… Tonight I was just looking at all my videos between 2020 and now, and it’s just like I’m so blessed and so thankful for you guys and the opportunities I’ve had and I just don’t want it to go to waste. I wanna keep going. I just wanna keep going and doing what I love and connecting with people…"
"So, anyway," Katie finished, "I look forward to continuing to work on my confidence and continuing to share parts of my life and thoughts with you guys and see whatever is next.”
Bachelor Nation fans filled Katie’s post with comments and words of love and encouragement.
One fan wrote, “We are here because we care ❤️”
Another follower added, “You’re great! Beautifully sharing your feelings being vulnerable all to help others. That’s beautiful 🩷Thank you!”
And another fan said, “Katie you are beautiful, inside and out, but you are also human and it’s ok to have doubts, we all do. By you sharing your thoughts, feelings and stories you are touching so many people so please keep sharing, you are so worth it.”
We couldn’t agree more with all the love Katie is receiving and know that her using her voice is helping others.
We also love how Bachelor Nation is coming together in Katie’s comments and we are sending them all love!
