Dale Moss Opens Up Online About Recent Mental Health Struggles: ‘It Gets Better’
Getting vulnerable…
Bachelor Nation fans first got to know Dale Moss on Season 16 of “The Bachelorette” when he got engaged to Clare Crawley.
Although it ultimately didn’t work out in the long run, he’s gone on to travel the world, work on films, and experience many exciting opportunities.
Recently while on a podcast, the Bachelor Nation alum opened up about difficulties he’s been facing surrounding his mental health.
In a new video he posted online, he shared, “On paper, I’m someone you might think would never face depression. I’ve put in serious work on my mental health, have access to every resource, and am blessed with an incredible support system and family. But at the start of this year, I went through a period of depression.”
Dale revealed what led to his mental health struggles, as well as how it eventually got better.
He said, “It was a perfect storm of loss, absorbing other people’s stress, trying to control outcomes, dealing with injury, and — maybe hardest of all — feeling guilty for struggling when I thought I ‘should’ have it all together. It was the only time in my life I could truly say I was depressed, and as dark as those days were, it did get better.”
Dale talked about the different factors that helped him start to feel better, including surrounding himself with loved ones.
“With time, I changed my environment, leaned on my therapist, and surrounded myself with people who could support me unconditionally,” he shared. “That combination helped me find my way back.”
He ended his post with a note of encouragement and reflection on the beginning of the year.
Dale expressed, “If you’re going through something similar, know that it’s okay to not have all the answers and that you don’t have to go through it alone. It gets better.”
We know that Dale opening up about his struggles will help so many others going through something similar, and we appreciate his vulnerability. We’re sending our love and support.
