Sean Lowe Details Being Violently Attacked by His Dog and Being Rushed to the ER: ‘I Was Fighting for My Life’

In our thoughts.
Bachelor Nation fan-favorite couple Sean Lowe and Catherine Giudici Lowe famously found love and got married after Season 17 of “The Bachelor.”
Since their time on the show, they’ve welcomed three children into their family: Samuel, Isaiah, and Mia.
Earlier this year, the Lowes welcomed a new family member, their dog Moose, into their crew.
But over the weekend, their family experienced a terrifying series of incidents where Moose violently attacked Sean.
Alongside an emotional video explaining what happened, Sean wrote, “Our family has been through it the last few days, but we’ll be okay. Thank you to everyone for the support. We’re very grateful.”
In the video, Sean shared that he “debated on whether or not we should share this publicly,” but decided to get ahead of any questions.
He explained that last week, he had some friends over for a barbecue while Catherine took the kids shopping.
The smoke from the barbecue set off their home’s fire alarms, which triggered something in their dog Moose.
As Sean was waving a dish rag by the alarm to try to get it to turn off, Moose started biting his shoes and “put holes in them.”
Sean shared, “At this point again, there’s so much chaos going on with the alarm going off, I give him like a very stern like, ‘Moose. No. No.’ And it was right about that moment where he shows his teeth at me and just attacks me, and I don’t mean like bite and run off like a lot of dogs do when they’re scared or defensive. I mean, attacks me, and I feel him just kind of ripping into the flesh of my arm.”

The former Bachelor said he was bleeding badly but was finally able to get Moose outside into the backyard.
Unfortunately, he explained, “He comes back through the door and attacks me for a second time, and not trying to be dramatic, but I honestly just felt like I am fighting for my life here against a dog. Not just a dog. My dog, right? Like, he’s my dog. We’ve only had him for a little under three months, but, like, he’s my dog.”
Sean revealed that at this point blood was “squirting” out of his arm and the injuries were deep.
He said, “My first thought is, ‘I think that dog may have nicked an artery.’ And we have the video, which — the video is way too violent. I’m not going to share that, but you hear me saying, ‘This is serious. You gotta get me to a hospital. Call Catherine.’ And I thank God that my friends were there, because they were able to rush me to the ER.”
While at the hospital, Sean got stitches in five or six places and eventually came home, only to be attacked by Moose again.
He remembered, “Just again, feeling ripping into my flesh. And again, I’m not trying to exaggerate, I certainly don’t want to come across as, like, a victim or anything like that. I’m just telling you how it happened [...] It took everything I had to control this dog. And like, I’m 220 pounds. If it were anyone else, he would have killed my children or my wife, but I was able to hold him for 10 minutes until the cops came, and then the cops had a hard time getting control of him.”
And while the events were traumatic for everyone involved, Sean says he doesn’t blame Moose and knows it wasn’t his fault.
“He, I think it’s clear, experienced a lot of trauma before we got him and had something neurologically wrong with him, where just a switch flipped and he turned into an absolute killer, which was so weird,” Sean explained.
And while they are working with the rescue organization they adopted Moose from to rehome him, Sean says they do “miss our dog, as weird as that sounds.”
We’re sending the entire Lowe family love as they navigate this difficult time and as Sean heals.
