Madi Prewett Shares Her Birth Story for the Very First Time: ‘It Gets Me So Emotional Talking About It’

Keeping it real.
Bachelor Nation fans first got to know Madi Prewett Troutt on Season 24 of “The Bachelor.”
Since her time on the show, Madi found love off-screen and married her husband Grant Troutt in November 2022.
The two announced last year that they were expecting their first child together and welcomed their baby girl Hosanna Rose Troutt earlier this year.
Now, the Bachelor Nation star is opening up and sharing her birth story for the very first time.

In a new video online, she shared how she wasn’t sure if she was really going into labor or not because she had multiple Braxton-Hicks contractions prior to her labor.
She said, “I’m timing my contractions at this point. I got this little app, it’s telling me how close my contractions are. I get in the shower and they start getting closer. Like, the contractions start getting more intense and closer and I’m like, ‘Okay, I think this is legit.’”
After her contractions got worse, Madi shared that she and Grant left for the hospital and were hoping she would be at least 6 centimeters dilated, but she was only at 4.5.
“When I heard that, I wanted to scream my head off and cry because I had not felt that discouraged in a really long time. Because of how much pain I was already feeling, it’s like, I’m only at 4 or 4.5 centimeters and you’re telling me I gotta get to 10… It was just so discouraging and so defeating, but I knew I couldn’t let my mind get discouraged and defeated.”
After going through natural labor for a couple more hours, Madi revealed how the nurse came back in to check on her and was surprised to find that she was at 9 centimeters dilated and started preparing her for delivery.

“We could not believe that I had progressed from a 4 to a 9 in two hours,” she stated. “That’s pretty uncommon for a first-time delivery, first-time baby. And so we were very shocked.”
Madi shared that she labored in the bathtub for a couple more hours and even tried using the bathroom before immediately needing to get on all fours on the bed because she was ready to push.
“This was the most insane feeling ever. It literally feels like you’re trying to push out a basketball,” she said candidly. “I pushed and I gave it everything I had… I push one last time and I can feel her. She comes all the way out and they get her and then they immediately give her to me. And it was just the most, it gets me so emotional talking about it, because it was the most beautiful moment. All of this pain for this gift. Like, what a gift!”
Looking back on her natural birth experience, Madi said, “It was the most empowering thing, truly, that I’ve ever done in my whole life… You feel like Superwoman, you’re like, ‘I can do anything!’ I mean truly, any other type of pain now, I’m like, ‘I ain’t worried about it. Nothing can compete with that.’ So yes, it was the hardest thing ever, but I wouldn’t change it. I don’t regret it. I’m so glad I did it.”
We appreciate Madi being so vulnerable and telling her story, and congratulations again to her growing family! We couldn’t be happier for her, Grant, and baby Hosanna.
