Abigail Heringer Discusses Home Break-In Scare While Not Wearing Her Cochlear Implant: ‘I Couldn’t Hear Anything’

Sending love.
Bachelor Nation fans first met Abigail Heringer on Season 25 of “The Bachelor,” and she went on to find love with Noah Erb on Season 7 of “Bachelor in Paradise.”
During her time on the Bachelor Nation shows, Abigail opened up about her hearing loss and how she wears a cochlear implant.
And since then, she’s continued to share her experience with her followers on social media about being deaf and wearing cochlear implants.
Now, she’s opening up online about a home break-in scare she experienced last week while she wasn’t wearing her cochlear implants and couldn’t hear anything.

In a new video posted online, she shared, “Okay, I have a story time for you guys because the cops were at our house at 2:30 in the morning last night. And for those that don’t know, both my sister and I are deaf and we wear cochlear implants and that’s important for the story.”
Abigail went on to explain that she and her sister were having a sleepover because Noah was out of town, and Abigail’s phone started to ring at 2:30 a.m. However, she thought it was a spam call, so she decided to ignore it.
“As I’m starting to put my phone down, my sister walks into my room and she looks spooked,” Abigail recalled. “She has her ear [cochlear implant] on, and I don’t have mine on because I charge my batteries downstairs… I couldn’t hear anything throughout this whole thing. So she’s like, ‘I think the [security] alarm is going off and the dogs are barking.’ And for context, my biggest fear in life is somebody breaking into a house, so I just felt like my whole body went into shock.”
She then detailed how she went into the security app on her phone and saw a notification that said, “Patio Door Opened.”
“My heart sank,” she said. “I was like, ‘Noah’s not here, my ear is nowhere to be found, I can’t hear anything,’ and my sister is also like, ‘What is going on?’”

Abigail then realized that the call was probably from the alarm company and had her sister call them back. The company then sent the cops to check on the house and they determined everything was all good.
She revealed, “We found out this morning that either the storm could have maybe set something off because all the doors were closed. And then the only thing was our sunroom door was slightly cracked open. The interior door, but you can’t get to it from the outside.”
Abigail ended her video by sharing two lessons she learned from the experience.
“If you are deaf, make sure you are charging your cochlear implant batteries right next to you,” she shared. “That is a lesson I learned. And then I think the other lesson I learned is, literally, Noah, this is what happens when you leave. You can’t leave because Rachel and I, I don’t think we could survive another night like that.”
What a scary situation! We are so glad that Abigail and her sister are safe and we hope nothing like that happens again. We are sending them our love!
