Jonathon Johnson Gets Candid About Why He’s Still Single: ‘I’m a Very Selfish Person’

Bachelor Nation got to know and love Jonathon Johnson on Season 21 of “The Bachelorette” and Season 10 of “Bachelor in Paradise,” where he formed a platonic partnership with Lea Cayanan.
Since his time on the shows, Jonathon has loved keeping fans updated with his life on social media and sharing about his search for love.
Now, the Bachelor Nation star is getting candid about why he’s still single in a new post online.
In a video shared on Instagram, Jonathon shared, “I’m 29 years old, I’ve traveled around the world for two dating shows and I’m still single. I think in a lot of cases most people just want to point a finger. And yeah, that’s the easy route. But I think I want to take some accountability. I’m a very selfish person.”
Jonathon then went on to clarify what he actually meant by calling himself selfish.
He explained, “Not in a take the last Diet Coke kind of way, even though… guilty. I’m selfish in the sense of I know who I am and I know what I want and I refuse to settle for anything less.”
The Bachelor Nation star expressed what a relationship will mean to him when he finds the right person.
“Some people call it picky, but I think when you reach a certain level of self-awareness, you won’t bend for anyone or anything,” he admitted. “Not for a show, not to please other people, and not just because you’re lonely. The person I choose will feel chosen every single day, because I chose them for my own selfishness. And no amount of outside noise will ever make me question that.”
Jonathon followed up with some final thoughts in his post caption, sharing, “At 29, people expect you to JUST pick someone, start a family, and pursue a ‘real’ job because ‘that’s when life starts’ but I’ve never been that guy. I wanna milk everything out of this life that I can and it do it with someone who supports that! I don’t think it’s selfish, I just think it’s my standard ❤️”
