Arie Luyendyk Documents His Last Car Race: ‘I’m in a Different Place in Life Now’
Moving on.
Bachelor Nation saw Arie Luyendyk Jr. and Lauren Burnham Luyendyk get engaged on Season 22 of “The Bachelor.”
Since then, the two have gotten married and welcomed three children: Alessi and twins Senna and Lux.
And earlier this year, the couple welcomed their fourth child — a baby girl named Livvy Rowe Luyendyk.
Before his time as the Bachelor, Arie used to compete in car races as a Formula One racer.
While he ultimately changed careers, Arie has always held onto his love for racing. However, the Bachelor Nation star has taken to social media to reveal that he just competed in his final sprint car race.
On his Instagram Story, he shared, “This weekend I drove to Vegas for my last sprint car race. After going back and forth, I just knew in my heart that pursuing my goal of winning races was going to be a huge commitment. Putting everything on the line for those last few tenths just wasn’t something I could do in that car.”
Arie went on to express, “It’s hard to describe to someone who hasn’t driven one, but you’re literally holding onto a 1,000-horsepower rocket — and the risk is huge if something breaks or a pass doesn’t go as planned and you end up in the wall. I just think I’m in a different place in life now, and that’s not a bad thing.”
The former Bachelor shared a glimpse into the race and revealed that sadly, it did not go as planned.
“I still want to race other types of cars, but a 410 winged sprint car is just pure insanity. I loved every lap I drove, but I know I wasn’t at my best,” he admitted, “Unfortunately, another driver spun on the first lap of the race ,and I was hit with too much damage to my car to continue.”
Arie ended his post with, “A huge thank you to everyone in the paddock who made me feel at home… I’ll take these memories with me – truly grateful!”
We are proud of Arie for pursuing his passions, and we can’t wait to see the other amazing things he does!
