Peg Reveals the Exact Moment She Knew Mel Was Going to Choose Her, Plus: More on the Commitment Ring!
Congratulations!
Bachelor Nation fans watched Mel Owens search for love each week on Season 2 of “The Golden Bachelor.”
And last night, his journey came to an end when Mel declared his love for Peg in Antigua and gave her a ring as a symbol of his commitment.
Now, the happy couple are on the “Bachelor Happy Hour” podcast and Peg is revealing the exact moment she knew Mel was going to choose her at the end of their journey.
She shared, “I honestly knew as soon as I got out of the mud bath. I knew, I felt it. I felt it at a very deep level, an intuitive level. I really did.”
Peg went on and revealed that once she knew, she talked about it to one of the other women in the house.
She confessed, “I even told one of the girls in the house. I said, ‘Oh, my God, it’s gonna be me.’ And I was kind of actually taken aback by it because I wasn’t expecting it. I did not come here expecting it. I came here with an open heart and an open mind and, you know, I had to just be myself — 100% be myself, you love me or you hate me.”
She went on, “But I wasn’t expecting it. But as soon as I got out of that mud bath, I went back to the mansion and just my spirit just really talked to me and actually I wrote it in my journal. I just said, ‘It’s gonna be me.’ And I was taken aback by that, I really was. I was taken aback because I didn’t expect it at all. I did not expect this at all, you guys.”
Mel also talked about the Neil Lane ring he gave Peg and clarified that it is not an engagement ring.
He said, “It’s whatever you want. We’re committed to each other right now, that’s what it means.”
Co-host Serena Pitt then chimed in with more clarification, saying, “So it’d almost be equivalent to like a promise ring. You’re showing your commitment to Peg through this ring and you’re saying, ‘We are locked in on each other and we’re gonna see how this goes.’” To which Mel confirmed, “Correct.”
Serena also asked Mel if he plans to repropose to Peg if the two do decide to get engaged, and the Golden Bachelor teased, “That’s to be seen, so we’re not gonna share anything right now at this moment. But to be determined and to be seen.”
