Zac Clark Shares the Real Reason Why He Speaks Openly About His Heroin Addiction Recovery
Opening up.
Bachelor Nation met Zac Clark on Season 16 of “The Bachelorette,” and as fans remember, Zac shared his struggle with addiction and journey to sobriety with Tayshia Adams on-screen.
Since his time on the show, Zac has continued to share resources for addiction, mental health, and more through his company Release Recovery Addiction Treatment Center.
Last fall, Zac celebrated 13 years of sobriety and has continued to speak openly about his recovery online.
Now, the Bachelor Nation star is sharing the real reason why he remains so candid about his heroin addiction recovery on social media.
In a new post on Instagram, he wrote, “Why I speak so openly about heroin.” Zac then shared multiple screenshots of messages he’s received from followers, sharing how his story has helped them with their own journeys.
Zac also shared screenshots of two articles highlighting addiction recovery and overdose awareness events he did alongside former NFL player Emmitt Smith at various college campuses.
He then went on to say, “A few more reasons: Accidental opioid overdose continue to be a leading cause of death in the US. Breaking down the stigma around words like ‘Heroin’ helps normalize the following: Asking for help. Recovery. Open conversations in the community around substance abuse and mental health. Getting drugs like Narcan (the overdose reversal medication) into every home.”
Zac then finished his post with one more reason why he speaks so openly about his recovery, and gave a note of encouragement.
He said, “In closing…There is no ‘profile’ for a heroin addict. It affected me and my family just like it could affect yours. Keep going.”
We are so proud of Zac’s continued work and advocacy for addiction recovery. We know his continuing to share his story will help so many others.
