Sydney Gordon Reveals Fiancé Nathan Gave Her the ‘Wrong Ring’ at the Proposal
Ring swap.
Bachelor Nation fans got to know Sydney Gordon on Season 28 of “The Bachelor,” and she has been keeping fans updated on her life on social media ever since.
Last year, Sydney introduced fans to her boyfriend, Nathan Nel, and shared details of their whirlwind romance, revealing that she knew he was “the one” after just two months together.
And earlier this month, after around seven months of dating, the two are officially engaged! Sydney took to Instagram to share the exciting news, writing, “My soul forever intertwined with yours.”
Now, the Bachelor Nation alum has taken to social media to share more about the proposal and revealed an interesting fact about the ring.
In a video posted on TikTok, Sydney wrote, “Engagement Story: He Gave Me the Wrong Ring.”
Sydney shared that she knew a proposal was coming but didn’t know when or where, and Nathan went on to explain the process of getting the ring.
“We obviously talked about it beforehand. I wanted the ring to be perfect, so we went to shop for rings and she was aware that I'd asked her parents for her hand so it was very evident that it was coming, she just didn’t know when,” he said.
Nathan continued, revealing they were supposed to go on a weekend getaway until there was a delay.
“The ring was supposed to arrive and then it was delayed. So we had to postpone the whole weekend,” he said, “Then it was supposed to come the Monday of the next week, so we planned we’re gonna go the following weekend there. And then two or three days before we’re supposed to come…[the friend] phones me and says, ‘Nathan listen, we’ve got a problem. My guy’s flown in with the wrong ring. This is a yellow diamond ring and it is completely different. Your ring is still overseas.’”
Quickly, he found a backup ring to propose with that was very similar to Sydney’s ring but not the actual ring itself.
“The funny thing is, he proposed to me with the ring and it looked very similar to the one that I wanted. And then he proposed to me and right after he’s like, ‘This isn’t your ring. This isn’t it,’” Sydney chimed in, “The funny part is all the pictures that I have posted it’s actually not even the ring. This is the ring – can’t really tell honestly.”
The ring eventually arrived and Nathan shared, “A few hours later, our other friends came to join us and then they came with the other ring and we swapped that one out.”
What a great story! We’re sending Sydney and Nathan so much love as they embark on this exciting next chapter together.
