You Need to Read Ali Fedotowsky-Manno's Powerful Message About Self-Love
Ali Fedotowsky-Manno is sharing an important message about body image and self-love.
On Thursday, the Season 6 Bachelorette posted a photo of herself on Instagram and explained that she’s recently been “thinking a lot about how I treat my body.” That comes in the form of “things I eat, the things I drink, how often I exercise, and mostly about how I look at and internally speak to my body.”
Ali wrote about how she’s learning to change her mentality and why it’s important to do it. She shared, “I often find myself criticizing my cellulite, the size of my waist and the fat around my tummy, and my nose. Heck, the other day I was beating myself up because my toenail looked yellow after I took my nail polish off. I mean really! The way we talk to ourselves internally it’s just not OK.”
She continued with a rhetorical question: “Can you imagine how you might feel if your body decided it had enough of the self hate and stopped working for you?” She wrote, “Let’s say my legs were sick of me criticizing their cellulite, what if they stopped moving one day? And then my tummy that supports my entire body. What if it decided to stop supporting me?”

Ali also revealed an anecdote about her nose, which she says she “hates.” She wrote, “I have ever since I was a young girl and a little boy made fun of me by taping the tip of his nose to his forehead so it stuck up like mine. But what if I couldn’t smell anymore? What if I couldn’t breathe out of my nose?”
She turned it into a more positive message and wrote, “My point is, our bodies are amazing! And I think if we stop to think about our body parts and appreciate them for their true purpose and function rather than some arbitrary aesthetic that society put on them. Then we’d all be speaking to ourselves in a completely different way.”
The note concluded, “Today, choose to appreciate and love your body for what it was made for. Giving you life and giving you the ability to enjoy this life.”
Many fellow Bachelorettes and Bachelor Nation friends supported her in the comments section of her post. Kaitlyn Bristowe wrote, “This is everything. Beautifully said.” DeAnna Pappas Stagliano commented, “Love this! You are gorgeous inside & out! And our bodies are incredible....you birthed 2 humans for goodness sake!!!” Vanessa Grimaldi from Nick Viall’s season of “The Bachelor” responded, “Love everything you’ve expressed. You are a true beauty and inspiration!”
In September, Ali penned a shorter message about her body image in a photo by the pool with her 17-month-old son Riley. She captioned it, “look at my tummy and then I look at his smiling face - and just like that, in my eyes, my so called “flaw” becomes my greatest gift. #gratefulformysocalledflaws”
Ali’s note is an important lesson we can all take into the weekend and days ahead.
