The “Bachelor in Paradise” alum shared on social media Monday that he suffered major injuries in a skiing accident in the Swiss Alps. He posted a picture from his hospital bed in Zermatt, Switzerland, and explained what transpired on the slopes, writing, “all my life i’ve dreamt about skiing the swiss alps. how could you not? they’re huge and beautiful and have some of the best snow in the world. today, however, was not my day. i was sending just a liiiiitle too hard and took a nasty spill which ultimately put me here. and since this is probably going to be the only pic i get in switzerland, i figured i gotta post it.”

Dean said the Swiss mountain rescue crew “blew my mind” with their swift response. He explained, “it took me about an hour to flag someone down for help but once i did, i was airborne and in surgery in less than an hour. a dislocated hip and fractured femur put 4 screws and a plate in my leg but things could have been so much worse and for that i am extremely grateful!”

He joked at the end of his caption, “looks like i’ll be celebrating xmas in a hospital bed this year.”

Dean divulged more details on Twitter, including how long it will take for him to properly recover. He tweeted Monday evening, “trying to find positives that can come from a 12 week recovery time. the first thing i thought of was that now i can focus on learning the instrument i bought 3 months ago and haven’t played once. anything else?”

In another tweet, Dean posted a picture of his leg resting on his hospital bed. He said, “just spoke to the surgeon for the second time (first that i actually remember) turns out they put a plate and 3 screws in, not 4. that makes me feel 25% better. let the recovery process begin.”

Many of the Colorado native’s Bachelor Nation friends sent their well wishes in the comments section. Bryan Abasolo, who appeared on the same season of “The Bachelorette” as Dean, wrote, “Sorry to hear this man 😕 glad you’re ok...get better soon! 🙏🏼”

Ben Higgins quipped, “Dean! I am your biggest fan! If you lift my shirt up and look under my armpit you will see a unnatural marking that will prove this to you! As the chairman of your fan-club I hope you were wearing a helmet for safety! If not, on behalf of your fan club I am going to force you from here on out! Please be safe. We need you. We need your face!”

Chris Harrison added, “Damn boy sorry for the bad spill. Get better. Beaches of paradise are never this dangerous.”

Switzerland is the latest stop on Dean’s travels around the world. He recently visited Ireland, Saint Lucia and Antigua with his girlfriend Caelynn Miller-Keyes.
