Arie Luyendyk Jr. Had Love on His Mind During ‘The Bachelor Winter Games’
It turns out Arie Luyendyk Jr. was making some pretty deliberate moves during his surprise appearance on 2018’s “The Bachelor Winter Games.”
The Season 22 Bachelor joined JoJo Fletcher and Rachel Lindsay as guest judges for a kissing competition on the show, which led to awkward moments with some contestants. Nonetheless, Arie didn’t travel to Vermont just to hand out kissing scores. Rachel and Arie hadn’t met before appearing together on “Winter Games,” but the three judges hit it off and ended up discussing his season of “The Bachelor,” which was still airing at the time.
Arie opened up to Rachel Lindsay and guest co-host Joe Amabile on a new episode of “Bachelor Happy Hour” about the real reason why he went on the show.

The 38-year-old recalled, “I thought, if I can go to ‘Winter Games,’ I will probably see Lauren’s producer and maybe see how she’s doing. That was my whole motivation for actually going.”
During his appearance on “Winter Games,” Arie described his “Bachelor” season to Rachel and JoJo, using the codenames “One” and “Two” to describe Becca Kufrin and Lauren Burnham, respectively. Rachel said, “I was listening to him talk about the season, and JoJo and I were like, ‘Wow, we think he really likes Number Two.’”
He appreciated the opportunity to talk to the two women about it, especially because they had just gone through the process themselves. Arie said opening up to them “was really helpful and gave me a lot of clarity.”
Arie added, “I was definitely lost at that point and really questioning how the show ended. I’m really happy how it turned out now, but at the time, I felt this enormity of pressure. You want to make people happy, but at the end of the day, it’s your life.”
Life is working out pretty well for Arie and Lauren post-”Bachelor.” They got married on January 11, 2019, in Maui, and even had a second ceremony in September in Las Vegas. A few months after their nuptials in Hawaii, Lauren and Arie welcomed their first child together, a daughter, Alessi. The newborn even got to attend the Vegas wedding!
