Adams and his now-fiancée Sarah Hyland announced on July 16 that they’re engaged! Both Hyland and Adams shared photos and videos of the big question-popping. It took place on a beach as “The Bachelorette” alum slid a pear-shaped Lorraine Schwartz diamond on Hyland’s ring finger.

“That can't eat, can't sleep, reach for the stars, over the fence, world series kind of stuff,”  the “Modern Family” star wrote on Instagram.

A multitude of fellow Bachelor Nation members congratulated the happy couple on the big day. “Paradise” success story Carly Waddell penned, “WOOOOO HOOOOOO CONGRATULATIONS!!!!!!!!”

Kendall Long added, “Wowza congratulations!!!”

Blake Hortsmann wrote, “Congrats. That’s amazing! Love ya guys!”

Hyland and Adams have been dating for just under two years and have a love story straight out of a millennial rom-com. They met in the ultimate 2010s way: on Twitter.

The Mississippi native appeared on JoJo Fletcher’s season of “The Bachelorette,” but was ultimately sent home during their one-on-one date due to a lack of a connection. Wells truly made a name for himself and won a special place in Hyland’s heart later on in the season during the “Men Tell All” episode. Hyland especially appreciated his many literary references.

“Also @WellsAdams compared Chad to Voldemort. #potterheadsarethebest,” she tweeted on July 27, 2016. Their Twitter back-and-forth continued the next summer when he appeared on “Bachelor in Paradise” not necessarily looking for love this time around, but rather serving up some strong drinks.

Then, like all good love stories nowadays, they began a DM thread. Their flirting ultimately transformed into a long-distance relationship with Hyland in Los Angeles and Adams in Nashville. He finally made the move to La La Land in August 2018. They live in Hyland’s home together with their adorable dogs.

Adams and Hyland aren’t shy about their feelings for each other on social media and constantly lift each other up with love and positivity. The 28-year-old explained in a Self magazine cover story that she first met Adams just days before her second kidney transplant surgery.

“He's seen me at my worst. He was there through all of that,” she told the magazine. “I think that's why I feel the most beautiful in his eyes, because he still finds me beautiful after seeing all that.”

She continued, “It was a really intimate start to a relationship to have to go through those hurdles at the very, very, very beginning when you're just even getting to know a person. Also, falling in love with someone before you can really be intimate. I did not believe that that was a thing, but it is.”
