Why Blake Horstmann Calls His Relationship with Caelynn Miller-Keyes ‘Confusing’
Blake Horstmann and Caelynn Miller-Keyes’ relationship is convoluted at best.
Viewers knew from the first few minutes of the first episode of “Bachelor in Paradise” that Caelynn harbored some strong feelings about Blake — and they weren’t the most positive. Caelynn expressed to many of her “Paradise” friends that she felt “silenced” by Blake, which then turned into a tearful confrontation between the two.
Blake and Caelynn have a bit of a romantic history, but there doesn’t seem to be any mutual agreement about the progress and end of their relationship. The 30-year-old tried to clear his name and speak his “truth” by releasing text messages sent from Caelynn at Stagecoach and before they headed to “Paradise.” It only caused more of a rift.
Blake elaborated on his side of the story on a new episode of “Bachelor Happy Hour with Rachel and Ali.” He described to Rachel Lindsay and Ali Fedotowsky-Manno his “confusing” relationship with the former Miss North Carolina USA.
According to Blake, he and Caelynn started talking in “roughly mid-December,” and that continued on for the next few months. However, at the same time, Colton Underwood’s season of “The Bachelor” was finishing up and Caelynn was a top pick to become the next Bachelorette. This is where things got murky for the Colorado native.
“That’s why it was confusing for me, too, because the whole time we were talking, she was in negotiations to be the next Bachelorette,” he explained.
Blake added, “We were open about that when we were talking, but it was like if she gets Bachelorette, she’s gone. I guess that’s what was confusing to me. She was ready to be the Bachelorette and leave and do that right away. But suddenly it’s this very serious and exclusive relationship.”
Blake’s boy-next-door reputation became tarnished during his time on “Paradise” due to his many love triangles and trysts that occurred at and around the time of Stagecoach. He told Ali and Rachel at another point in the podcast that he felt like he was in a “deep hole” after “Paradise” wrapped filming and when it was airing.
He explained, “Coming off of Becca [Kufrin]’s season, I didn’t get too much hate. Then, to suddenly get as much as I did right away, it was really hard.”
