Trista Sutter's Birthday Tribute to Her Son Maxwell Will Make You Tear Up
Time flies when you’re having fun, right?
Trista and Ryan Sutter’s son Maxwell turned 12 on July 27, and Trista shared a very moving Instagram post in honor of her not-so-little boy. The Season 1 Bachelorette posted a series of pictures of Maxwell from over the years, spanning from right around his birth to hockey team portraits, and Max in a diaper to family vacations around the country.
“Twelve years ago, I met someone,” she began. “He gave my life meaning & purpose. He helped me see the world through different eyes. He consumed my every thought, prayer, and hope and made me love my husband even more than I thought possible. His name is Maxwell Alston Sutter and he calls me mom.”
Trista’s note continued, “Today, I celebrate the love he has brought into my life over the past 12 years and cherish each moment (I mean, can you handle picture #3 or #4?!) because good or not-so-good, it has brought us to today. I love you, buddy, and hope you know just how loved you are on your birthday, and all year round.”

Trista has been a crux of Bachelor Nation since the very beginning. She appeared on Season 1 of “The Bachelor” with Alex Michel in 2002 and ended up as the runner-up to Amanda Marsh. The former NBA dancer was so beloved she became the first-ever Bachelorette a year later in 2003. Firefighter Ryan Sutter extinguished any fears about love and he ultimately got down on one knee and proposed to her. They tied the knot on December 6, 2003 and are the parents of Maxwell and Blakesley, 10.
