Jed Wyatt Talks About the 'Mistake' He Made With Hannah Brown on 'The Bachelorette'
Jed Wyatt admits he made a number of mistakes both during his time on “The Bachelorette” and afterwards. The 25-year-old musician appeared on “Good Morning America” on Thursday — two days after his tense and emotional reunion with Hannah Brown on the season finale — and provided his side of the story about what happened.
It all began in June when People published an article that Jed supposedly had a girlfriend back in Nashville when he went on the show. His alleged girlfriend Haley Stevens told the magazine they “slept together the night before he left for the show” and that he only went on to boost his music career.
Jed did not really touch on his relationship with Haley during his “GMA” segment, but he did talk about how “sorry” he felt about it all. He sat down with Michael Strahan and told him, “I was really overwhelmed with how much I really did fall in love with her. I was fearful to lose her. I was acting more out of fear than actual love for her. That was my mistake.”
In terms of the big news article, Jed explained that he and Hannah “discussed that situation prior to the article and the day before the article came out.” The two of them “touched a lot of bases” in relation to what it was about. However, he was “still fearful of some of the details that caused us to end.”
Jed continued, “I knew how sorry I was. I knew how her happiness was in my best interest and how easy it would’ve been to turn away and not even show up to ‘After the Final Rose.’ I just wanted to be there for her so that she could have closure in her eyes and in the eyes of everyone else.”
He said he does feel a sense of “closure” after seeing her on “After the Final Rose,” although it “still hurts.”
On July 8 — the same day as the Hometown Dates episode — Jed posted a photo on Instagram with his family and spoke out about receiving “threatening” messages. He wrote, “Threatening letters and phone calls have been sent to our homes. My parents and sister are being verbally attacked in public. I beg you to remember what seems like a harmless action is damaging to real people.”

Jed echoed similar words in his interview with Strahan.
“One of the hardest parts was seeing how this affected my family,” he shared. “It’s not their fault. They didn’t sign up for this. It’s been hard to see them work through everything and to help them work through this. It’s hard for everyone. Time will carry us through this.”
