Chris Harrison: Blake Horstmann 'Was an Absolute Dumpster Fire' on 'Bachelor in Paradise'
Chris Harrison sure isn’t one to mince words!
The longtime “The Bachelor,” “The Bachelorette,” and “Bachelor in Paradise” host stopped by E! News to discuss the new season of “Paradise,” which premiered on Monday. Harrison had been teasing for weeks that we were in for “the most dramatic season of ‘Paradise’ ever” — and he definitely wasn’t far from the truth.
Thus far, much of the drama in “Paradise” surrounds Blake Horstmann; namely, his relationship with Caelynn Miller-Keyes before the show. Blake and Caelynn slept together at Stagecoach Music Festival in April. While in “Paradise,” he went on a date with Tayshia Adams, expressed interest in Hannah Godwin, and had an intense discussion with Kristina Schulman, whom he also slept with at Stagecoach.
Things are messy and it’s only been one week of episodes.
“Blake himself was an absolute dumpster fire. He was just a car wreck,” Harrison told E! News’ Will Marfuggi.
Harrison knows audiences are perplexed about this entire debacle and how it transformed into such a fiery mess so fast. “I think what everyone in America will be asking is ‘What were you thinking? What were you thinking when you went to Stagecoach and not only hooked up with two women in two nights, but two women from our franchise that know each other and you’re probably going to see them in ‘Paradise?’”

He added, “He skated into ‘Paradise’ thinking it was all going to blow over? I think the big line and tattoo he should get are ‘What were you thinking?’”
Both Caelynn and Blake have spoken out about their portrayal on television and how their story is being played out. On Tuesday night, Blake released a bunch of text messages between himself and Caelynn as a means of “speaking my truth” because he was getting “attacked” on social media. Blake said he had “no other choice” but to do so. He wrote another note apologizing for what happened and said he’s been “in a dark place for a while” because of what happened.

Alternately, Caelynn wrote a note of her own on Wednesday evening and said she felt “absolutely mortified” that her personal messages were shown online. She wrote as part of her note, “The reality of the situation is that Blake was not a one night stand at a music festival and the 5 am text exchange that Blake chose to share is not an accurate representation of our past relationship. “
Only time will tell what Blake and Caelynn have in store for the rest of their time in “Paradise.”
“Bachelor in Paradise” airs Monday and Tuesday at 8 p.m. on ABC.
