Here’s Why Nick Viall Thinks There’s a ‘Civil War Brewing’ in Bachelor Nation
Nick Viall, Bachelor Nation’s unofficial historian and analyst, thinks there could be a storm a-brewing.
The Season 21 Bachelor joined Rachel Lindsay and guest co-host Krystal Nielson for an episode of “Bachelor Happy Hour” where they discussed social media and how it can be “detrimental” because “some people start valuing their worth in likes and follows.”
As blatantly evidenced on Season 6 of “Bachelor in Paradise,” Instagram and sliding into someone’s DMs is the new way to grab someone’s attention. Social media has undoubtedly changed cast members’ lives, whether in the form of sponsorships or gaining a massive following online. Nick believes that the medium has stirred the Bachelor Nation pot in a big way. He hypothesized to Rachel and Krystal, “I feel like there’s a civil war brewing amongst Bachelor Nation cast.”
But why?
According to Nick, “It’s all social media’s fault.” He continued, “Kaitlyn [Bristowe]’s season was sort of the start of social media hype and then JoJo [Fletcher]’s season. Now we’re full-blown social media. It’s also gotten younger.”
The Wisconsin native believes that “Hannah [Brown] and Colton [Underwood] started this new wave of cast members… It’s high school and it’s like the Sharks and the Jets — it’s a reference from ‘West Side Story’ — and everyone’s pretending to be friends, everyone’s just going after the same FabFitFun deals, everyone’s jockeying for positions, and everyone’s talking s—t.”
Every bubble must burst, and Nick believes it’ll happen one way or another. He said, “There’s going to be this big rivalry. It’s like the Marvel ‘Civil War’ movie. Everyone is kind of friends and they kind of like each other, but they’re gonna get in this big fight.”
Keeping in line with the Marvel theme, Nick thinks there’s a side of Season 24 Bachelor Peter Weber that people haven’t seen yet. Nick knows there’s “the perception” that Peter emulates Ben Higgins’ boy-next-door persona, but he really thinks Peter is “more like me.”

Maybe it’s vice-versa because Nick channeled his inner Pilot Pete and dressed up as the Bachelor for Halloween.
