Sarah Herron Shares Empowering Message About Loving Your Body
Sarah Herron’s message about self-love requires everyone’s attention.
Sarah, who appeared on Sean Lowe’s season of “The Bachelor” as well as Seasons 1 and 3 of “Bachelor in Paradise,” posted a photo on Instagram on Monday of herself only wearing a bra and underwear. She pegged the post to the Victoria’s Secret fashion show, which was scheduled to take place December 2. However, on November 21, L Brands’ CFO Stuart Burgdoerfer announced the cancellation of the annual event.
In her caption, Sarah discussed unrealistic body standards and why she never felt inclined to watch the televised runway show. She wrote, “If you’re like me, you probably had no idea that tonight was SUPPOSED to be the Victoria’s Secret fashion show - but it was canceled. I’ve never watched this fashion event, because I never understood the point - and I’m not a masochist.”
She explained that she’d never “[buy] bejeweled lingerie, wear feathered wings in the bedroom or have stems a mile long,” adding, “I literally could not NOT relate to anything more.”

Sarah continued, “But regardless of how I feel, the brand was finally called out for their unrealistic, unattainable and demoralizing beauty standards. So, they’ve closed up shop on their big event. They’ve yet to admit to the public that it’s because they know they need to redirect their marketing to more body inclusive... but baby steps.”
The 32-year-old urged everyone to “go love on some ladies who are the real super models of life.”
E! News shared a quote attributed to Sarah that spoke on the subject of self-love. It reads, “I may not love my frowny belly button, but I accept my frowny belly button. There are strong, beautiful women out there who also have stretch marks, veins, cellulite and love handles. Maybe life would have been a lot different for me if I had see more of it growing up.”

Sarah isn’t afraid to get candid on social media about mental health and other topics often seen as taboo. In October, she wrote, “I’ve been pretty mean to myself over the years. Yet somehow, I’ve remained more loyal to me than anyone I’ve ever tried to impress. The truth is, the way we talk to ourselves is freaking MEAN! It’s unlikely you would talk to a friend this way, so why is it ok to talk to yourself this way?”
She continued, “Next time you start to go mean girl on yourself, redirect your course. Tell her how much you love her for being strong, and there with you through thick and thin. Tell her how radiant she is and how deserving she is of love, respect and acceptance.”
Sarah’s Instagram bears similarities to posts written by Ali Fedotowsky-Manno. On October 30, Ali composed a message on the social media platform about the importance of speaking positively to and about one’s body.
She wrote, “Today I found myself thinking a lot about how I treat my body. The things I eat, the things I drink, how often I exercise, and mostly about how I look at and internally speak to my body. I often find myself criticizing my cellulite, the size of my waist and the fat around my tummy, and my nose. Heck, the other day I was beating myself up because my toenail looked yellow after I took my nail polish off. I mean really! The way we talk to ourselves internally it’s just not OK.”

Ali then posed the question, “Can you imagine how you might feel if your body decided it had enough of the self hate and stopped working for you?”
She concluded her note, “My point is, our bodies are amazing! And I think if we stop to think about our body parts and appreciate them for their true purpose and function rather than some arbitrary aesthetic that society put on them. Then we’d all be speaking to ourselves in a completely different way. Today, choose to appreciate and love your body for what it was made for. Giving you life and giving you the ability to enjoy this life.”
In another Instagram post, Ali quoted one of her fitness instructors who said, “Exercise is a celebration of what our bodies can do. Not a punishment for what we ate.” She wrote, “I exercise because I care about my body and I want to celebrate that it functions and moves and allows me to live my life! And keeps me HEALTHY most of the time!!!! I want to treat it right.”
