Experience Nassau, the Bahamas, Like Becca Kufrin on 'The Bachelorette'
It’s time for the Bahamas, baby!
Just a hop, skip, and jump from Miami, the Bahamas feel like a world away. No wonder it’s a popular couples and group getaway spot! From renting a boat to swimming with pigs, the Bahamas has plenty of activities and opportunities for relaxation, romance, and roaming on your vacation.
Becca Kufrin traveled to Nassau, the Bahamian capital, on Season 14 of “The Bachelorette.” If the Bahamas is on your travel docket, now you can plan your own dates just like her.
There are hotels and resorts aplenty in the Bahamas, which is comprised of 700 individual islands. Whether you’re traveling with just a plus-one or with a bigger group, a hotel such as Baha Mar, where Becca and her suitors stayed, offers several amenities without feeling too overwhelming. Plus, it’s right next to Paradise Island, and what could be better named than that?
One-on-one date: Boating in the Bahamas
Start off your vacation in the Bahamas by leaving all your cares on land. Ignore those work emails and rent a boat to sail you around the cerulean seas.
Enhance your day on the water by suiting up in your cutest swimwear, grabbing your date’s hand and taking a dip in the warm Atlantic Ocean waters.
Don’t forget your snorkel because you’ll want to explore all this sea life! Some snorkeling tour companies will even take you on guided conch diving swims, so don’t pass up the opportunity to try it out. When you’re done, you can mention you think your date is the ultimate catch.
One-on-one date: An aerial view
You’ve already sat on the beach and ridden the Bahamian waves, so now it’s time to see the country from above. Companies such as Trans Island Airways offer charter flights to different islands in the Bahamas, so just like the Bachelorette, take your pick and head out on an adventure!
Once you land at your chosen beach, pop some bubbly, break some bread, and share a kiss under the sunset.
One-on-one: A real "Love" Island
To capitalize on your time soaking up each other’s presence, enjoy a date at the aptly named Love Beach. Snorkelers flock here due to its proximity to a coral reef and shipwrecks on the ocean floor. You and your date can even sign up for a horseback ride on the beach and ride off into the sunset together — just like the movies!
All relationships ebb and flow like the waves, but during your date here, there will be no riptides in sight.
Group date: Getting personal on a private island
If you’re staying at Baha Mar and feel like surprising your date with something special, you can splurge with a day trip to the hotel’s private island, Long Cay. Just a few minutes from the hotel by boat, Long Cay offers a saltwater pool, private catering, luxury bungalows, spas, and everything you’ll need to take your relationship to the next level.
You can also stay active during your visit because the island provides Jet Skis, snorkels, and more. If you’re with a bigger group on Long Cay, you can be just like Becca and play a game of beach volleyball. Up the stakes by giving extra time to whoever wins!
After spending all day on the beach, continue the evening like Becca and go rum tasting at John Watling’s Distillery.
Life’s a beach, and we’re just playing in the Bahamas!
