Bachelor Peter Sets the Record Straight About His Relationship with Kelley Flanagan
Peter Weber is fully aware there is rampant speculation about what he's doing isolating with Kelley Flanagan, and now he's ready to clear the air.
The Season 24 Bachelor spoke with Rachel Lindsay and Becca Kufrin on a special episode of "Bachelor Happy Hour," and the three broached a wide range of subjects. Rachel and Becca — as well as the rest of Bachelor Nation — wanted to know his reasons for staying put in Chicago rather than his hometown of Los Angeles. Leave it to the "Bachelor Happy Hour" hosts to get right to the point!
Peter shared, "I've been quarantining in good ole Chi Town with Chop Chop Kelley and Dustin [Kendrick]."
He explained he calls her "Chop Chop" because "on her last episode in Peru, she was like, 'Chop, chop, give me the rose.' So now I call her 'Chop Chop' all the time."
Nicknames aside, Peter remained adamant that they are not a couple. "We aren't dating right now," he said on the podcast. "I can set that straight."
Peter reasoned, "If I’ve learned anything, it’s to take things extremely slow and not rush into anything. I just was engaged. I just finished up another relationship figuring out what was going to happen with that. We’re there for each other."
The 28-year-old believes that many of his interactions with Kelley have been "serendipitous." She said in her introduction video for "The Bachelor" that she met Peter at her best friend's wedding in Los Angeles, which happened to be at the same hotel where Peter was attending his high school reunion.
He told Becca and Rachel he ran into Kelley in Miami at the Super Bowl while the season was airing and once again in Los Angeles just a few weeks ago. When they happened to see each other in L.A., he "got her number and we started communicating."
Peter said, "She’s always been very supportive of me and I’ve tried my best to be supportive of her. Some serious stuff ended up happening with her family, so she was in a sad place. She was by herself. Her roommates weren’t in Chicago and her family was in Florida, so I decided to fly out and spend time with her to take her mind off things."
Since Peter lives at home and is still working as a pilot, he said spending time in Chicago "just made sense on all parts and I could be there for her and put a smile on her face."
Peter said he, Kelley, and Dustin "get along so well," which he's "grateful" for. Rachel asked, "Do you feel like you know Kelley better than you knew Hannah Ann or Madison at this point?" He admitted he did.
"I've gotten to know her very well," he said. "Everything that makes her tick, that annoys her — all of that."
