Try Not to Cringe at Matt & Mel's Awkward 'Listen to Your Heart' Date
First dates are prone to awkward conversations — it just comes with the territory. Not even "Bachelor" cast members are exempt, and Matt and Mel experienced this firsthand during their one-on-one date on "The Bachelor Presents: Listen to Your Heart."
Before Matt and Mel attended their Plain White T's private concert, he caused a stir when he told Rudi he wanted to take her on the date and then subsequently asked Mel (Becca and Rachel discuss this at length on a new episode of "Bachelor Happy Hour"). After the concert, which involved them getting onstage with Tom Higgenson and the rest of the band, Mel and Matt spent quality time together drinking wine and learning more about each other.
Matt told Mel, "When [Tom Higgenson] called us up there, I was freaking out. You honestly helped me so much just knowing you were there, so thank you."
Mel responded, "Yeah, sure. I mean I don’t know what to think. I was just trying to keep it together."
Their conversation involved many awkward laughs, lots of pauses to sip wine, and a few "Can you tell I’m horrible at taking compliments?" remarks by Mel.

Be sure to tune in to the next episode of "Listen to Your Heart," which airs Monday at 8 p.m. on ABC.
