This Is Clare Crawley's Ideal 'Happy Ending' on 'The Bachelorette'
Clare Crawley hopes to find her happily ever after on her season of "The Bachelorette," and she has a pretty clear idea of what that looks like, too.
On part two of her "Bachelor Happy Hour" interview with Rachel Lindsay and Becca Kufrin, Clare opened up about why she refuses to "settle" and how that will help her reach her "happy ending."
Becca inquired what Clare envisioned the end of her season to look like, and Clare brought it back to her philosophy about staying true to herself through self-love.
Clare explained, "My happy ending would obviously be staying true to myself and I think that’s key to say because a lot of people have said in the past, 'How many shows have you been on?' or 'How many times are you going to do this? You’ve already had four tries at this.' When I say being true to myself, that means loving myself first."
She's walking into her tenure as the Bachelorette with a realistic perspective, too.
"If that means there’s no man at the end for me, that means there’s no man at the end for me," she told Becca and Rachel. "In my best, ideal situation, the man of my dreams is there and we can walk away and go back into normal life."
Clare added, "I’ve always said I’m not here to be famous. As weird as this is, I love my job and I love my life here. I wouldn’t change it for the world. I want a man that I can bring back into that life that will go on a Friday night to the nursing home to visit my mom and will go on walks with my dogs after dinner."
Due to the filming of her season being delayed, Clare explained she's had ample time to reflect on what she wants out of the experience and how much she's grown over the course of the years.
Becca asked what advice she would give to her 20-year-old self, and Clare immediately choked up and almost started crying.
She said, "If I could speak to 20-year-old Clare, I would say, 'It’s going to be okay. All the hard work that you’re going to put in and you will be going through, it’s going to suck and it’s going to challenge you to your core, but it’s all for the greater good. You’re worth it. You’re worth fighting for, and you’re worth fighting for yourself and your own happiness.'"
Her advice to herself continued, "It is worth it and it’s going to suck and it’s going to be hard, but fight for yourself because at the end of the day, there are going to be times when it feels like you’re the only one fighting for yourself. As long as you don’t give up on yourself, it’s worth it — it’s so worth it."
Clare told Becca and Rachel she thought about that exact question just a few weeks prior. She shared, "Gosh, if I could just tell younger Clare it’s gonna be okay, be yourself, be authentic, there will be somebody out there who will love you for every piece of your being regardless of how ugly or dirty or how hard it’s been. There is somebody out there, along with yourself, who will love you for that."
