JoJo Fletcher Divulges What It Was Like Stepping In for Chris Harrison on 'The Bachelorette'
It was the most dramatic hosting swap in Bachelor Nation history.
JoJo Fletcher confirmed on a new episode of "Bachelor Happy Hour" that she briefly stepped in for Chris Harrison to film Clare Crawley’s season of "The Bachelorette." According to the Season 12 Bachelorette, Chris Harrison’s role is much harder than it looks.
In August, the longtime host helped his son Josh move into his dorm to start his freshman year of college, hence JoJo traveled to the "Bachelorette" location and filled in. JoJo spoke about the experience on "Bachelor Happy Hour" and explained she was "so stressed" about it.
JoJo couldn’t share much, but she revealed she "jumped into some craziness" upon her arrival. Like the trailers for the new season hint, JoJo said Bachelor Nation is in for "a very unexpected season with a lot of strange, unusual things happening."
The Texas native said after she got the call from producers asking her to step in and help, she was "100 percent" on board with it and thought it sounded "so fun."
She said, "When I came, they didn’t tell me anything. I had no clue what I was even walking into. Not a clue! So I show up, meet with Chris, and he gives me the rundown and I was like, 'You’re leaving me with this? All right. Here goes nothing.'"
JoJo expressed admiration for Chris and his ease at doing his job.
She said, "Any time I’ve been on the show, whether it was as a contestant or as a lead, or if I’ve come back to do guest stuff, there are no rules. You say what you want, do what you want, and act how you are."
JoJo continued, "When you’re given the role and the job of filling in for Chris, and he’s the greatest of all time and he’s so phenomenal at his job and those one-liners and delivering those things, I was so stressed about not living up to his expectations. He trusted me to do this. The amazing thing was that I wasn’t coming in there trying to be Chris. I was coming in just to help him out."
During their conversation, Becca spilled a tiny secret about what to expect on this season of "The Bachelorette." She said, "Fun side note: All three of us make a quick appearance on it for different reasons. It was so fun being there. No one quite knows what’s gonna go down."
